New Artwork "Shepherd"

Hey everyone! I hope you're doing well!
Shepherds are a common sight in Argenta. Almost all islands and cultures like fabrics a lot. A shepherd like this one might not be able to afford pricy garments and embellishments, but there is a huge textile industry settled all over different islands of Argenta. Since we aren't talking about a Fordism here, there are just a lot of shepherds and their flocks of Sheep on almost all islands.
Writing this, it comes to my mind that it would be intere...

New Sketch of a Shepherd's Village

Hi everyone! The little lamb on his shoulders is barely visible now, but will be very visible once the colors come out. Right now, I'm not too sure yet how the lighting will be done. Originally, the plan was to have the entire foreground in shadow, so it feels like we're standing in the cool shadow on a warm Summer day.

Since I'll return to work next week, I figured I'll already share the lineart with you. As one of my team members quit, and we'll distribute the work in our small team f...

New Artwork of a forest island

Hey everyone! This forest island in the Bay of Menehil has had towers on it for ages. Older folks still know it as "Turtle Island" because of it's form. The tower you see on the left was actually the first one there, it belonged to a writer who appreciated the solitude of the island. It is rather old and not habitated now - his decendant, a young writer, has built the bigger tower with the help of her parents and a fisherman who lives on the island.
As she is a writer as well, she enjoys ...

Revisiting an older artwork "Stargazer"

Hi everyone! Since I had a lot of free time on my hands the last few days, I decided to revisit this older piece of mine and give it an overhaul (you can see the older piece in the second picture).

While I'm not really proud of this piece, I still kind of like it. I figured I'd post it here here, I'll post it on social media, but will probably not make prints unless people really like it.

But anyways, I'll share the sketch for the next piece with you soon.

Talk to you soon!<...

New Artwork "Island Village"

Hi everyone! This village has grown over the last few years, it used to be a simple fishing village, until one of the fishers daughters came back from a nearby city where she studied Gemmology. She had an incredible talent for cutting gems for all kinds of purposes, and as her skills grew by a lot while merely studying, the gemmaster of the city gave her the opportunity to open up her own little gem cutting manufacture on this island. While at first business was really slow, news of her amazi...

New Sketch of an Island with a ferry

Hi everyone! Drawing the city street recently gave me the urge to draw more settlements, villages and castles. As it's just more fun to have those on an island, I just went for it. Originally, there was only one single house planned, maybe just one other for a gardener or so. It then quickly evolved into a whole village. There will be lots of birds as usual, and it will maybe even give the option to draw a close-up later down the line, for example standing on the island and looking up towards...

New Artwork "Sunstone"

Hi everyone! There are all different kind of ores all over Argenta, but the two most important ones are moonstone and sunstone. Both of them are rather rare though, or at least can't be mined in huge quantities besides in a few places. As they often have a spiritual quality to them, they can often be found in Menhirs that have been set all over the islands.

This piece was fun to draw because of its simplicity, there are basically only some shades of blue, green and some greys, which mak...

New Sketch of a coastal scene

Hi all!

Just finished a new sketch that was actually inspired by a photo that John Howe (yes, THE John Howe who illustrated large parts of Lord of the Rings and Hobbit) took.

As of right now, I am not sure yet if I should give the wizard a dog as a companion in this piece. What is important to me in this piece is not to challenge myself in terms of the motive, but rather focus on having it be really dynamic within the wind, I want the viewer to feel as if the piece comes alive wit...

New Artwork - "The Lazy Griffin Tavern"

Hi everyone! The Lazy Griffin is a tavern in one of the smaller cities near the Arnas Mountains, which are known for their wild nature and gemstone mines. As these mountains are vast and full of possible adventures as well as crossed by an important trade road, many adventurers and mercenaries find their way here. The Lazy Griffin is a not so well known place in the town where some of these people gather. Insiders know it for its exceptionally well baked regional Arnasbread as well as for the...

Newest Wallpapers for you!

Hi everyone! All new wallpapers are attached for you, I hope you enjoy them! Personally, I have "Summer Evenings" as my wallpaper. As always, if you'd like them for PC or so, just write me a DM.

Also a quick update, I'm almost finished with the lineart for the next artwork, only one character left to draw, then I'll move to colors this weekend.

Have an amazing rest of your week!

New Sketch of a City Scene

Hi everyone, this has been a long time coming - a city scene within Argenta! It's time to explore a bit more architecture I think. For a long time, city/street scene intimidated me. I have no clue why I do feel up to the challenge now, but I do now, and that is all that matters. The best thing by far with old and medieval like buildings like these is that they are so organic, nothing is perfectly straight, they sometimes even lean to one side - they just have so much character, it almost feel...

New Artwork "Summer Evenings"

Hi everyone! A return to a really old "friend" of mine that just sometimes made it into my drawings in the last few years, enjoying its time in the warmth of the setting sun.

The lineart was done in a more pencil-like style this time. it is the same brush as I used to color all of it. And even though the piece seems to be completely full of details, the whole thing only took me about 8 hours, which feels almost strange to me. I hope you like all of these different plants and the lighti...

New Sketch "Summer Evenings" (title not clear yet)

Hi everyone! This is something that I have not done in a long time - it will be a rework of an older piece of mine. The background will be different, and I want to really see how much I've grown in the last 3 or so years. Maybe even 4 years, I can't really remember when the original piece was done. In any case, I've already started on the lineart, I'm using a slightly different brush that has more of a pencil feel to it compared to the inking feel that my usual brush has. Can't wait to show t...

New Artwork "Fay Coast"

The Fay Folk of Argenta are rarely seen. They are proud people and keep to themselves - many would like to get to know them, but they rarely come in contact with the other Argentians. These Fays living by the coast are known for their love for amber and salt, but the crystal that we see here was a gift from their relatives who live in the mountains.
About the piece itself - it was a lot of fun to draw. The water proved to be a challenge, particularly by the beach where it breaks off into s...

New Sketch

Hi everyone! An unusual piece emerges, as promised. I am still thinking about wether or not this scene is based in Argenta as well. Introducing a folk with wings who can fly would change the whole economy, culture, possibilities and such in the whole world. Not that I'm really knees deep in worldbuilding, but it feels a bit like standing at a crossroad.

The most logical thing would be a "no" though, as if it's not a "hell yes", then it should usually be a "no".

I hope the water tu...

New Artwork "Cliffside Hamlet"

Hi everyone! The new piece of a cliffside hamlet is done. There are many of them on this island, as the cliffs provide shelter from wind and rain. They are usually inhabited by magicians, scholars, biologists, alchemists and many more who just want their calm life outside of the cities bustling with life and noise. Not every hamlet has a tower, but most of them do, as the height gives you a spectacular view across the plains and the far distanced sea.

This piece itself was fun to draw a...

New Sketch

Hi everyone! I hope you're doing well. So today I'm coming to you with a completely unbalanced composition, I think it has actually never been that strong on one side before. I've been playing a game called "Tiny Glade", which gave me the idea for the house, and the tower should be fun to draw as well, as you know that I just love towers somehow 😂

I keep telling myself to keep it simple, not getting lost in details and making lineart that is too fine, but it happens over and over aga...

New Artwork "Travelling with the Silverwing Guild"

Hi everyone! The piece is finally finished, and I must say I am very please with the colors. I know it could look almost too sugary, but to me it feels just vibrant and full of life. The view is also something that I particularly like, or rather the perspective. I fear the piece might be a bit of an overburden to a viewer, as it has lots of little clusters everywhere. At the same time, this was what was so fun to draw, creating all those little towns, imagining life on the various islands. View Post

New Sketch of a Journey through the Skies

Hi everyone! This one is something I've never done before - the height of it is a bit scary since it's so unusual, it's not yet clear to me what should have how many details, but I'll figure it out :) At the same time, the piece feels right at home for me, with that much space to "breathe", which is something that I'm usually searching for in my pieces anyways. At first there was a sort of skyship there, but while sketching, it felt just too modern and close up, which is why I changed it to a...

Royal Mail Aviaries

The Royal Mail Aviaries of Argenta are full of birds of all different sizes. Some of them are said to be more reliable than others, but they all have their own strengths and weaknesses regarding weight to carry, distance, speed etc. The Keeper decides on what mail the birds are able to carry, and how long they should rest when they return. Many say that it would be more practical and cheaper if they'd not return to the same aviary each time after delivering their mail - but these Argentians f...

Wallpapers + Android App for Islands of Argenta!

Hi everyone, I am really excited (and also a bit nervous to be honest) to share a wallpaper app with you that Raul and I have built over the last year.

Some of it is even pixel art from the older days. All scenes have their lore to them, which y...

New Sketch of "Royal Mail Aviary"

Hi everyone! These so called "Pigeonniers" have been a fascination of mine for a long time, and I want to draw one for the Royal Mail of Argenta. They were used to keep doves or pigeons in them, sometimes for messages, sometimes just for fertilizer. Which gave me the idea to draw something like this, but quirky and whimsical. The lineart will be rather thick compared to my usual work, I really want to force myself to make everything a bit bigger, leafs for example, or doorhandles. Just to giv...

New Artwork "Darkglass Stone"

Hi everyone!

As you can see, the tree was not turned into glass as imagined originally. I tried, but it turned out weird somehow. It would most likely be too much glass in the picture, and it would be confusing as to what is actually emitting this power. The glass itself was particularly fun to draw, as well as imagining life down there in that small village. I must not overdo it, but really enjoyed adding those gold glitters to the stone that carries the Darkglass Stone.

As you...

New Sketch "Nightglass Oak"

Hi everyone!

This tree and some of the surrounding stones will be made out of a dark glass. The lineart could be tricky when choosing a color. The plan right now is to make the trunk and the stones a dark glass, and have the sun be rising on the right side outside the canvas, so that the tree trunk is hit with some sunlight. Things that are made of glass tend to look the brightest where there should actually be shadow if you'd have a solid object, so it could look really cool, or at lea...

New Artwork "Tree Fay"

Hi everyone!

If you are extremely lucky to encounter one in your lifetime, you may come across a Tree Fay in Argenta. They have very rarely been seen in daylight as well if left undisturbed, but they don't glow as brightly then and are barely visible to the eye. Many wanderers have observed by them without being noticed, as they are shy yet curious about the ways of the Argentians. The Fays are said to have been around for a long time, woven into songs and scriptures of many cultures. S...

New Sketch of a Tree Fay

Hi everyone!

I hope you're doing well!

It has been some time since my last night scene, I think it must have been the falling star. While drawing a commission for a night scene, I had so much fun with it that it made me do this for my personal work.

The tree fey will most likely be golden though, and not in a cold silver. I want her to give off warm and well-meaning vibes.

Compositionally, I also find myself draw centered compositions more and more, with the most imp...

Guardian Stone

Hi everyone!

Guardian Stones are set up at corners of the lands of some lords, just like oak trees mark their borders. The Guardian Stones mainly protect the lands from storms coming from the sea, and are hugely appreciated. They usually come from a mine on one of the Northern islands - tales say that the islands has not been hit by a serious storm in centuries.

As you can see, the lineart underwent a lot of changes with the tree. As is usual when one discovers a new technique, on...

New Sketch

Hi everyone! Here is the newest sketch. Surprise, another tree, I know ^^ I plan to give a special effort to this one though, as I really want to level up my game with them, especially with trees that look a bit like beeches or oaktrees. Under it, we'll find a Guardian Stone, which usually protect the borders of regions, or in this case, protect the tree itself. In the second sketch, you can see the sketch for a commission that I'm doing right now, which will take some time away from my perso...
