She is a teenager trying to deal with the loss of her mother and instead she's out here trying to compete for the attention of a father who treats her like an afterthought meanwhile Dexter gets full-day excursions on How to Get Away With Murder sponsored by Dad. The viewer obviously knows that Dexter is a serial killer, but she doesn't know that. All she sees is an adopted brother who she perceives as getting their father’s attention effortlessly, while she has to fight for the bare minimum. Of course I understand that Harry being laser-focused on Dexter is in some way rooted in his guilt over what happened to Laura and his own moral failings, though you would think that after cheating on Deb's mom, the guilt from that alone should have also had him overcompensating and showering Deb with fatherly love. And let's be real, he doesn’t show up for her the way he does for Dexter, and when she dares to express frustration, he hits her with the classic “I’m a cop,” excuse. Bro acting like the world’s busiest man. The entire city of Miami is crumbling under crime and the crime rate will go up 250% if he even sets aside time to offer Deb a speck of attention. This rebuttal of his about being too preoccupied with work is empty when you compare how he always finds time for Dexter, even if that time is under the guise of "handling" his urges. So yeah, Deb being a foul-mouthed gremlin makes so much sense when you really look at it. Deb has every right to be bitter. The way Harry is acting, i would be frustrated too, like damn, ain't no love in this house? Harry acting like an NPC with only one main quest: oversee "Dexter’s Murder Boot Camp™". (Side node but remember in ep 6, when Bobby and Harry talk about his wife's pregnancy and they both hope it's a boy, but "unfortunately" it's Deb -lmaoooo- and later fate gives him a second chance in the form of Dexter when he becomes orphaned so I think this also plays into Harry's behaviour, the son he always wanted ahh reaction). Yeah so to Deb right now, the only way to get noticed is to commit a felony or be a boy- or in this case, be Dexter-. Sick work. I really yapped on this fr.

(The arm that dexter removed the evidence of at the lake) If you re-watch the scene when Deb and Gio are in the apartment, it pans and shows a golden snake statue with red eyes for a solid like 4-5 seconds. I might just be looking into it, I'm surprised that Roshi and Shira didn't actually pick up on that, but the statue and the ring are both the same design.

I fucking hate Harry and everyone involved for making Laura basically bring down an entire cartel by herself. She did WAY more than enough undercover work to earn herself a witness protection spot and they just kept pushing and pushing her, threatening her with jail and never seeing her kids again. She never had a choice and Harry's inability to be professional or look out for her gets her killed. It's 100% his fault.
