Im glad to see that it seems like the final arc of this season is going to be at least a few episodes. Which is great because the big fight of that arc is about to be NASTY. It’s also the “strongest” one at that (in korea) because it has two S-ranks instead of the usual one (usually the guild master) in the rest. At this point, it’s fair for him to be wary of making an enemy out of the strongest korean guild. He doesn’t yet know how he scales compared to other S-ranks and therefore can’t justify possibly having to fight one or even two.

It’s why they were so confused to see them there. The dungeon was originally read as a low A-rank, yet High Orcs are very strong A-rank monsters and therefore should not be present. The whole situation stunk to high heaven which he seemed to pick up on.

In this setting guilds typically need to send a full squad of members equal to the gates rank, plus at least one person of a rank higher. If it was A-rank then the white tiger guild master would never have said they even had a chance. They sent a single A-rank in with a few B-ranks and some stragglers even lower than that. Thats my thought process at least. Im not sure if they even ever give us a concrete answer for what rank that gate was though.
