Roman sounds like he was the most abused sibling, so it could be that he the only time he was interacted with by parents (people he wants love from) is through abuse so he learned to 'like' it, like with the misremembered details about the dog cage. Or because hes such a fuck up and he does everything wrong, if his partner still engages with him sexually despite the fact that he's still 'doing it wrong' he weirdly feels safe enough to actually do stuff, because they accept him. Gerri is basically a mother figure too, which adds to either theory, since his mom never stepped in whilst Logan was abusing him. Whatever Roman got going on, it's his parents' fault
