I think it's actually out of character for people to ignore them in this insane situation. Basic reasoning would insist that if these random people are spewing prophetic bs then you should probably experiment with that and do a thorough investigation or interrogation when you see that what they say comes true or is proven true. It was for me. I’d say if you’re happy with answers to questions and character development then it pays off. Also half of the people that are annoying get way less annoying later on, you also got to look at it from the people living there perspective. They have been stuck in this town without internet/phone, no family members(that are not with them) to talk too. They have to live in fear every night because of monsters outside. There’s not really a concept of society, they are a community but not a society hence why no one talks to each other or trust each other. Boyd is the only one that brought them back to a society with the talismans and organizing supplies, getting the dinner up and running. Have some sort of law/Law enforcement. Before they were no more than feral animals living in the woods,hiding in the bush/underground. Scavenging for resources, etc…
