Legend of Vox Machina 3x7

its starting

Comments

and you wanna know the irony? if percy still with that vengeance tought, he migh have escaped.

Jota N.

And now I'm done watching this show. Lol

MajorMomScream12 .

im so curious what is going on cuz at this point the story is veering way off from the actual campaign from critical role...

Cerin Draco

Damn, this time i was with Percy, i'm always about revenge, the one time i think would be better not to go down this path, this happen, lol, that says a lot.

Gabriel Souza

Tell that to Percy 😭

Extra Crispy

Dog 😂

Extra Crispy

“It’s a flesh wound”

My

Thank you for the clarification it’s been so long since I saw campaign one !

Nikolai Cannady

No all three (vax, vex, and keyleth) are all half-elves, and were in the game. Keyleth's aramente leads to her becoming the archdruid of all Ashaari. Half elves in D&D live about 120 years on average, but high level druids age 1 year for every 10 that pass, so Keyleth will live to be around 900-1,000 years old if she completes the aramente and becomes the Voice of the Tempest. What Vax saw was Keyleth outliving everyone and visiting their graves

Mythic.Rob

Did that change from critical role for the show or has she always been a half elf as well? Elves already live stupid long and being a Druid just means they damn near immortal.

Nikolai Cannady

Just saw this comment, but no, Keyleth is not a full elf, she is also a half-elf, it's because she is a druid that she can live longer than them all.

Cory

(in southern belle voice) Percy....I can't...feel you. Yeah, X-Men 97 scars have not healed.

E.j. Pennine

They had a whole arc about Vex and Vax being half elves and Kiki is a full elf

Nikolai Cannady

Gangster wizards with the nastiest spinning of the block in animated history

PJ Rivera

"I INSIST.." lol

Caleb Washington

Mercy is never the answer

JotaroDrake

Every dnd game is different! Characters can definitely go on side quests (up to and including side quests where they’re completely absent from the main story and the player brings a different character in), but it’s generally good manners to keep solo side plots to a minimum for the sake of time and the other players at the table — unless everyone’s okay with it. “Split the party” side quests are a lot more common for bigger groups, though a common suggestion is don’t split the party because as soon as you do you’re bound to stumble across some bullshit danger that ideally would need all hands on deck lmao

Bria A.

In addition; Every DnD game is different, but they can! And sometimes Matthew Mercer (the Dungeon Master) would split them up just because 7-8 players (8 if there's a guest) can be challenging. Every character in this show so far has been in the actual campaign!

Nita - Kento's Widow

Oh yeah Scanlan and his daughter is a whole thing in the actual DnD campaign. Although it's less of characters going to do their own thing, and more the group going on a side quest together. The splitting up is more of a show thing to save on time. Since the actual dnd campaign was like 450 hours of playtime

B

Anime has ruined me I want him to be like Naruto controlling the demon 😂

Justin Spencer

Fairly new to dnd do characters really go on side missions about their secret daughters or is this a show construct?

Justin Spencer

Percy: *shot in his right pec* Sheera: right in his heart too😮

DsWorldd •

Maybe this is crazy to say but given the fantasy setting and the crazy off the wall shit we've seen, something tells me he's not going to die as easily as they make it appear. All things considered Orthax had such a fucking hard-on for this man something is telling me he's going to keep his soul or some mystical shit and turn him into a wraith.

lilllllllllil

Though it was good, I think I'm in the minority when I say that there are some aspects that I did not favor about Percy's death in this adaption compared to the original. I'll wait until all the episodes come out to see how they wrap it up as a whole though, and overall wonderful episode.

Nita - Kento's Widow

In the og work he gets revived instantly. But they wanted things to be real, so they gonna keep him dead until next season

KingdorismHD

Mostly correct! No one in the party is a full elf, though. Both of Keyleth’s parents are half-elves, and since there are no quarter-elves (mechanically) in D&D, she’s also a half-elf.

Bria A.

Wasn’t even a roll, he just got fucked up in that fight and Anna was gunning to kill 😭 (But I do forget if he failed death saves or if she just kept shooting him until he was dead)

Bria A.

Ripley: Do you really want me to shake your hand?

Rin Okumura

nah, I think they're gonna make it 5 seasons total, not 4. 4 seasons would be condensing a lot of material. 5 would give them more breathing room

Anathem

This is like if Avatar killed off Sokka I’m so sad lmao. Like how Korra killed off his legacy

Lamaree Jackson

Fantastic reference.

Gwyn

Hopefully not, it's been trending in the top 10 on Amazon since the new season dropped. But the cast has been campaigning a lot more so its possible they're worried abt getting cancelled. They're right in the middle of making the next show too. There'd only maybe one more season of vm before the conclusion, so make sure to share the show to guarantee a good finale!

Butabitz

my man must've had the worst role imaginable, bcuz that shit pissed me off 😭

Justin Neason

And there we go, they've just announced the 4th season. Less than 24 hours left until the final 3 episodes of season 3 release, so they technically still made it in time.

Tobias Reinhold

Multiple things to clap y'all for this episode, but I'll choose Roshi forgetting Vax literally talked about Keylith having a much longer lifespan than the rest of them in that "vision" episode, which is why she was alive in the vision, it didn't necessarily have anything to do with whether they died untimely deaths.

Drake Rage

That Avada Kedavra multikill was crazy

Offw0rlder

I agree them all dying and getting brought back one by one next season would be dope

Reckless Company

LOL she has a valid reason for being evil. She helped kill Percy's whole family who had nothing to do with her situation.

Jimmy

she killed percy like how leo D caprio died in django unchained

Orlando

no way this message is right at the top of my screen as im scrolling up to vox machina. cmon maaaan

SnailSpray

When Percy said he was in love with Vex I had a Roshi/Lupa moment and said “death flag in his back” boy was I mad I was right 😭😭

AJ Williams

Let them pick up Invincible first since it's right next door 😭

Kisuke01

Now I need to hear a Jamaican Lance Reddick.

Jamaal Ellison

So to add to this comment,Keyletth is a pure elf for what i understand, they can live for a thousand years give or take but because she is a druid ones they become a certain level they gain a feature that makes them age one year for every 10 that actually passes; this makes her in other races eyes and even in elf time immortal. Her life span goes from 1,000 to 10.000

ZX_45

They really killed the best characther I am pressed 😭😭😭😭😭

Fizzy

Oooooooh yh u right

yahye

You’re thinking of Delilah Briarwood who’s voiced by Grey Griffin/Azula. Ripley is voiced by Kelly Hu

Matt

Orthax for sure has played Ripley completely. She thinks all her thoughts and actions are hers but they totally are not. She fully accepted who 'she is' when she indirectly accepted Orthax. So for Percy he and a small part of him notice that not all his thoughts and actions where his this thus him being able to go against Orthax all the time before. Making all those guns to gain a soul from each kill gained is Orthax's ultimate plan to no longer need a host and to be able to roam the world freely and take souls by its own claws. Ripley will for sure be its kill once Orthax has gained enough souls

MR_V1B3Z

Bruh just go to Withers and pay the 200 gold 🙄

Simple Fan

Crazy how u mention the fire nation when Ripley is the voice of Azula

yahye

God, I'm so pressed. The people that animated Vox Machina should pick up Tower of God. This series is fucking immaculate.

lilllllllllil

I swear vengeful characters always decide to be merciful at the worst time.

Tempest2000

“why would you even tempt that shit?!”

alonso616

I wonder if they’re going to get a new character to join the party.

PersonaFyde

Im pretty sure Keylith was old in the vision, wasn’t it just about her lifespan?

PersonaFyde

I know I was just trolling

That guy joe

They did Percy's death so much justice imo. Cloak and Dagger is the title of the session they played that Ripley killed Percy and it was both heartbreaking and sad af (Pike wasn't there she was back at White Stone cause her player Ashley was still doing her TV Show) which everyone who was there and watching that moment knew that Percy couldn't be healed or saved. Ripley/Orthax in the encounter aimed for Percy most of the fight and it was both Orthax knocking him to 0 HP and then Ripley shooting Percy while he laid unconscious which made him fail his death saves. It is still my favorite Campaign 1 episode and they did it so much more justice in the show because it really showed the character growth of Percy and how the darkness had left him despite not feeling fulfilled (Vex relationship was also in question during this time). My only gripe with the show is that Taliesin when he described Percy's final moments he ended that all of his guilt and regrets had faded in that moment and he died with a confident smile in the end, while in the show he just bled out with a face of shock which kinda hurts that they didn't keep the soft grin but I understand context-wise they went with this. So happy to see you guys react to this I was waiting ever since it aired to see you 3 witness Percy's final moment.

Austin Ernst

Ngl, the fact that this is the first time we're gonna be ending a season of this show without confirmation of the next season being made kinda scares me. Amazon would be INSANE not to renew this

Anathem

He needs to do S4's intro in that voice lmao

Delinda Arts

On the topic of 500mg gummy. The first gummi and first taste of any kind of weed related product was from this free package I got. He said take half, there were two in the bag, so I took one gummy. 150mg is apparently a lot for your first time. And I was in a dream world much like this 🤣

Fobbles

If you live in a small town in Vox Machina… you’re so fucked!

Fobbles

It’s getting good 🤣

Fobbles

Like ppl already said the vision vax had is long into the future where we see an old keyleth mourning her friends who she out lives due to her lifespan.

Lash

She had her chance to change right then and there but instead she put a bullet straight through that change.

Red Sun Crusher!!!

"SIMMMBA" lmao

Delinda Arts

I could fix her

Delinda Arts

Yup I just forgot to add that. 18th level druids are “basically gods” if you know what I mean 😂

Frederick

It's not because of her elven blood, (Keyleth is a half-elf btw, along with the twins), it's because she's a druid, and because of her "Aramente". In terms of D&D mechanics, high-level druids get a feature called "timeless body" at level 18, which means that for every 10 years that pass, they only age 1 year. In terms of story/flavor, Keyleth was chosen by her tribe to become their next leader, so she's now on a journey (the Aramente) to become the master of all four elements, and once she completes that, she becomes empowered and ages much slower/lives longer than pretty much anyone else. Not even full elves will live as long as her, it's a pretty wild lifespan lol

Zakki

BRO I SWEAR TO GOD I NEED RIPLEY TO DIE THE WORST DEATH IN THIS SHOW SHE KILLED MY FAVORITE CHARACTER SCREW YOU!!!

Red Sun Crusher!!!

Lupas Lance Reddick impression continues to impress

Gwyn

They are half elves. Keyleth is also a half-elf.

Connor Grynol

You have my thanks brother milk

Fred_D3

They’re half

nicholazsyx

Yo R.I.P Percy man he was a real one til the end

Boogie's Games

I love your theory Roshi about everyone dying. But the vision was a tie in to what Osysa said to Keyleth when she roasting her. It was about Keyleth with outlive them because of her elven blood

Frederick

It showed up on the subtitles: It is "Not how it was supposed to go" by Peter Haqib

TheMilkMan

500mg gummies! Roshi a trip! I was off an 800mg while watching this episode, oddly enough 🙊

HIM

Ah ok

Kingmakaii

They're just half elves. human mother

Christian M

Percy got killed trying to be a real nigga

Bobby Robinson

Sheera yes they are elf’s dark elf’s to be exact I’m pretty sure

Kingmakaii

seems to be what they've set up. the glow on the gun as he was laying there, plus Ripley outright saying earlier in the episode that Orthax would feed on those killed by the guns

Anathem

Awe shit, not The Assembly tease.

pmreez

So was Percy's soul snatched up by Oethax then since he was killed by one of the guns?

6CatsInAnAlley

Naww, Ripley is actually kinda dope ngl

HIM

Holy shit, that ending was really good, now I know why Percy barely showed up in the trailer. And that song, oh my God, I love when shows do that, it felt like the Boys Season 4 ending with Heart Shaped Box, well fucking done

TheMilkMan

Yep, high level druids have an extremely decreased rate of aging and high level monks basically stop feeling the effects of age and don’t need food or water (but can still die of old age). It’s pretty cool if you play in a game to the point where you can hit those levels.

Bria A.

I need the title to that ending song

Fred_D3

Percy’s death made me realise how much I love this show

Fred_D3

That's interesting I don't have a whole lot of experience with dnd so I thought it was just an elf thing.

Shiroja

Sort of true, except she isn’t a full elf! The Vox Machina campaign of Critical Role was the “we’re kind of new at this, let’s not get wild” game, so they stuck to pretty normal races and vaguely self inserts. All that to say all three ‘elves’ are technically half-elves — Keyleth left to her own devices would only vastly outlive Grog (and Percy by about a generation, but goliaths/half-giants die young). The gnomes would vastly outlive even her. It’s the “eventual archdruid” thing that makes her exceptionally long-lived.

Bria A.

Yes elves live around 800 years. High level druids also age slower (1 year every decade). So Keyleth will easily live for 7000+ years after their adventures.

Lurkingposter

In the campaign, Ripley also killed Percy but they had access to resurrection rituals so they got him back next episode. The show is being much more restrictive about bringing poeple back from the dead. So I expect Percy to be gone for a while until they figure something out or they may leave him dead.

Lurkingposter

No, he just straight up got shanked by Ripley. 💀 This is pretty game-accurate, with the exception of an NPC that was also involved that they cut from the show. Also the factory didn’t really exist and the battle was outside lol. Where they go from here plot-wise is unique to the show, though.

Bria A.

The song lyrics to the ending song to the final scene was frickin perfect.

HessianX

Probably needed to roll a 25 to live and rolled a 24 instead

SavvyAlloy

ohhh Nooo Percy why 😥😭😢

Norman kay10

ohhh Nooo Percy why 😥😭😢

Norman kay10

actual elves like their father live like 800 years.

HessianX

Vax/Vex are half elves. They live around 180 years or more.

Lurkingposter

Me trying to think of dnd bullshit for Percy to live.

Re_Slayer

Vex, Vax, and Keyleth are all half-elves, which average about a century and a half to a couple centuries, give or take. Vex *will* naturally outlive Percy; very few beings with an average lifespan will outlive Keyleth, because extremely high level druids—what she’s aiming for after her Aramente—drastically decrease their rate of aging (I believe it’s one year per decade of time) on top of her already extended lifespan. Which also explains Vax’s whole “I can’t be with you” complex in the show, though it was weirdly swapped from the game where Keyleth was originally the one with those hesitations.

Bria A.

A key thing to remember is that Ripley said that anyone killed by her guns gets their soul eaten by Orthax. And when Percy died, the gun that killed him was glowing and then Orthax picked it up. So not only did he get smoked, he doesn't even get the afterlife because a demon just consumed his soul.

Lei feetenby

Like Percy's good heart made him stupid too to trust this bitch in any capacity.

Expired Breast Milk

I thought of Robert Downery Jr.'s Sherlock but Dr. Shultz is on point 😂

Expired Breast Milk

So from my understanding just because of Keyleth being a full elf her life span is vastly longer than the rest. Even if they all die of old age she will eventually be by herself no matter what. At least this is my understanding.

Shiroja

Well Ripley, you lost your last chance of redemption, next time you're dead, one way or another

Nicka Snax

@StorySmith Nah in the campaign he absolutely died, they had to do a resurrection attempt on him afterwards (which they almost failed, it was winning a persuasion roll on Vex's words to him that made him wanna come back). But things definitely played out differently in the show, so we'll have to see what they do.

Nicka Snax

Nah they’re definitely NOT Elves, they can’t be, their ears are way too pointy lmao.

That guy joe

We sliding for Percy at dawn 💯😤

reeseevan8

So Orthax took possession of Percy’s soul which is why Pike could resurrect him; the soul has to be reachable for one to be brought back from the dead

Erik Miller

His soul is in the possession of Orthax though so I’m not so sure about that

Erik Miller

i have been waitng for this one yessss

Koda

Damn that vision was real.

Frederick

Two minutes in and Roshi is literally correct lmao. There’s a very high level spell in D&D called “Disintegrate”.

Bria A.

Rachel and Myne: "Ripley, welcome to the club!"

DevilMayCarter

I don’t remember him dying. Wasn’t it he had one of those one time use items where once he “died” he came back with 1hp or something?

StorySmith []

I doubt it? Because it’s quite a sticking point in game that he never actually made the deal (unless you mean just getting the contract). But I think this a plot device to either introduce resurrection rituals or the Shadowfell into the show. Not too sure. I do think taking him out of the picture entirely for the Thordak fight is kind of a bummer of a writing decision though.

Bria A.

Ripley did still kill Percy in the campaign, the difference is that the party basically just obliterated her on the spot immediately after and then brought him back to life in like, five minutes of in-game time. They definitely understood that a death like this would feel really cheap if they just went with the classic DnD "we cast revivify and he's fine" thing.

Beagle

Oh yeah I forgot about that! That is an important piece we would get otherwise. Good call

StorySmith []

For the record, the vision that Vax had about keyleth is deep into the future. You can see that keyleth is much older and that she simply outlived everyone. Eventually she will become a powerful druid and they go through a ritual which greatly lengthens their life span

Ozpib

Lmaoo Ripley hit that nigga with the Dr. Schultz

Jebro245

I assume his death will bring him to hell where Percy makes "that deal" with the demon, since he and Vex never went there in the show but did in the DnD campaign.

Totally Thomas

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hasnain Khan

Bro in the DnD episode, everyone's jaw dropped when Percy died fighting Ripley. The revenge plot against her afterwards...HOOO Boy will it be spicey!

Totally Thomas

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hasnain Khan

so, Vex, Vax and Keyleth are all Half-Elves, and typically have a lifespan of about 180 years. However, because of Keyleth's journey that she's on to become the leader of her people, her lifespan will be drastically increased, which is why Vax had the vision of her outliving them all & was hesitant to advance their relationship. Pike and Scanlan are Gnomes, and they can live for over 400 years. Grog is a Goliath/Half-Giant, and they typically have a slightly shorter lifespan than humans

Anathem

Gonna assume Percy is getting resurrected because this is definitely the opposite of what happened in the campaign Percy actually killed Ripley AND took not one but TWO vestiges she had in her possession My assumption about this rather drastic change is because unlike in a game like dnd where even if your cheracter hp hits 0, they only stay dead if the player feels like it….. That doesn’t really translate well to a tv show. Cheracter constantly cheating death will ruin an audience sense of tension.

StorySmith []

Ripley gotta go

Steve Harvey Dent

🪦

Raider

Vex and Vax are half elves

mitch anderson

y'all probably don't know, but there's also a Ripley prequel comic dropping next month

what an unfortunate time for No Mercy Percy to turn into Merciful Percival
