I think you have to understand killing Sophia would've been more humane than to put her in an environment forcing her to becoming mentally unstable. To me, Sophia was pissed that Oz didn't report to her instead of her father but he did try to talk to her in the car but she went off on him and basically called him a nobody. We all know Oz can hold a grudge and I think he might not have went to Carmine if she hadn't said that. I think he just wanted to get back at her but it turned into a lucky opportunity for him. It's the same when Oz came to the party and asked she him why he was indoors like an animal. Yeah I think some are making the jump from Oz snitching to Carmine to what her father did to punish her. Oz is great at lying and Colin Feral is a great actor but last episode when Oz was apologizing to Sophia he seemed super genuine. I half-agree: Yes, Oz does feel bad for what happened to Sofia BUT No, he does NOT feel bad for his role in it. One, he truly believes that he was just doing his job by telling Carmine (e.g. he doesn't see himself as a "rat"). Second, I believe he'd absolutely do it again even if he had advance knowledge of what was going to happen to her as long as he would reap the same reward of an elevated status in the Falcone operation (e.g. he told Sofia to her face that "it was worth it" already knowing she spent 10 years in Arkham for crimes she did not commit).

I love the use of perspective in this show, the writing is so fantastic. When you watch Batman media through Batman's eye's, Penguin is always a villain (Arms and drug dealer etc) but in the first 3 eps the show tricks you into being sympathetic towards Oz with his mother and showing how hard he has to work to get to where he is. But this episode reminds you that Oz is a villain through and through, absolute scumbag. Fuck me the writing is amazing.

I think Sofia did t say anything about Oz to her family because he has nothing to sleuth the beef she has with her family. Sure Oz snitched on her to her dad and technically it’s his fault, but Oz isn’t the one that put her in Arkham; Her father/family did. Oz didn’t know what was going to happen to her when he snitched, he just snitched to her back at her for disrespecting him. Her beef with Oz is completely separate from her beef with her family and she had to deal with them first before she could focus on her beef with Oz. That’s what I think at least. I blame her being in Arkham for 10 years on her family more so than on Oz.
