2024-10-14 06:38:51 +0000 UTCMan, I wasn’t sure about Daima after it was initially announced, but after hearing Toriyama’s passing earlier this year, I’ll be curious to see what’ll happen here in this new show he’s got… at the very least, they better have some meaningful mention at the end of this show giving a tribute to the man himself… The only part about this retcon that bothered me again (not surprisingly like Goku’s origin story) is how Shin and Kibito managed to separate themselves from their Pottara earrings early on, EVEN THO this was established this in Super during the Universe 6 vs 7 Tournament arc… Also LUPA: that wish in their “movie” was for (I think) to bring back the lives that Majin Vegeta killed… it’s been a while, but I remember somewhere along the lines…

Or at least that's what most of their myths are translated as. For example, Yao Guais are usually translated as "Demons". Even Faeries are considered "Demons" by their standards, so I wouldn't be surprised if Namekians were just considered Demons too. When you look at the origin of the word "Daemon", it originally just means "Guardian Spirit" and only started holding a negative connotation since Monotheism started a witch hunt against non-Monotheist cultures. But since Toriyama grew up in a time where Christianity was already prevalent (as you can see in his Dragon Quest Priest characters), it seems he was influenced by the negative connotation as well, and yet still managed to blur the line.

Even with missing information, your brain will always adapt to the context that is presented to you and make sense of it. You may not understand every plot detail, but you can internalize the characters emotions and the dynamics at play.

Plus the animation is Wonderful and we already see that it ties into super with the multi-verse highlight. I wonder how the demon realms dragon balls compare to the regular ones, it appears to be only 3 of them and they only grant one wish. However the way the old namek had no issue with using earths dragon balls makes me think that there's is on an entirely different level.. maybe super shenron level as far as wish granting? Also if ears indicate that someone is from the demon realm, does that mean all kais are from there? Does that mean Pilaf is from there too? This is getting really interesting!

They even showed that during the recap portion of the episode. - In the beginning of Super, Kibito Kai is still a thing, yet they're unfused here in Daima. Unless they fuse again somewhere down the line, this is gonna be a major plot hole here. - ALSO in Super, Shin and Kibito said they used the Namekian Dragonballs to defuse, but in Daima, they went with the old explanation of Majin Buu's body disrupting the magic of the potaras, so are the retconning the retcon that Super established about the time limit?

So seeing as this old Nemikean has the ability to locate retrieve and fix a the stone dragon balls. That means dende is gonna be a real Kami in the future.
