I Saw the Devil

what a wild movie

Comments

Loved this movie. At the end the "good" guy became the devil. Also great aciting!

Arsene Lupin

Nah broski, this shit retarded

Alex zander

Additionally, in the context of spirituality, Kyung-chul's state of being prior to his death was not ideal. He clearly was not at peace with his death, which could bring poor inclinations for what is behind the veil following his transition.

Illicit Mind

At the end, Kim Soo-hyeon did what he said he was resorting to do. Despite admitting he made a mistake/fucked up on his estimation of Kyung-chul's capabilities, Soo-hyeon wanted Kyung-chul to die at his most painful moment. Kyung-chul clearly did not want to die in that moment, with Soo-hyeon leaving him to his parents & son at the door. This is in contrast from earlier given how we saw Kyung-chul tirelessly telling Soo-hyeon to kill him when they were together from just before. That moment before Kyung-chul's death clearly kicked in his survival instincts/fear of death. One could also say he wanted to protect his image. That he never wanted his family to realize his true character and history of actions. Despite all the control Kyung-chul yielded throughout the movie, his final moment was him in his most powerless position.

Illicit Mind

Hell yes, it's always good to see people who saw this film for what it is and not just answering with revenge is bad. It's a painfully (in a good way) drawn out showing of "if you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you" as well as just how destructive it is to all parties involved with no satisfaction and nothing gained only lost.

Levi Blair

Note: Currently only halfway through the movie. Took me until I was halfway through to realize that this might be the point, the protagonist isn't some morally righteous hero - he's doing his own thing, no matter what he does to the killer, it'll be too quick and then its over so I think he'd rather keep him going perpetually and indulge in his revenge. He's not out to save any victims, he'll probably keep going until his 2 week leave is up; I feel the chat should remember there's a lot of people in the world and we're raised on typical hollywood revenge stories that frames wanton violence as "cool" and the "justified" response; it lets us indulge and doesn't focus on the aftermath of those main characters after they've put their bodies through unimaginable damage, broken how many laws and burned any possible bridge of returning normally to society and going back to an empty house and emptier life so I get what this movie is trying to do. A morally bad protagonist does not equal bad movie bottomline. **Just finished the movie and yeah I stand by this statement; you're not supposed to feel satisfied- Kim certainly wasn't. There is no blaze of glory, he tried to get a psychopath to feel remorse and ultimately failed, he still doesn't have a wife or son to go back to and he's empty, he wanted to indulge in his revenge longer but had his hand forced by the killer and had to rush kill him. Jang's parents and son had nothing to do with the crime the same way Kim's unborn child and wife did nothing that warranted the killer's wrath. Kim doesn't kill himself either because even when he has nothing to live for, pure human necessity prompts him not to want to die so he keeps moving living with the pointlessness of everything (maybe he does eventually off himself, we don't know) I feel like trying to simplify this movie as "Revenge is Bad" takes a lot away from its deeper themes like futility of wrath and drawing meaning where there is none, self-deceit, long-lasting consequence and delusions of grandeur

Kreed

These niggas live in Gotham 😭

GojosHoho

Another good Korean Horror movie is the 2016 movie Monster. It's on Youtube and has a really good set up for the killer and the victim. You guys should check it out sometime.

Ren

I get that the point was to be dissatisfied by the journey. But I feel like there was a better way to show the ML leaving his morals trying to accomplish his initial goal. Some decisions he took felt unintentional in the directing and acting, and that's maybe why some people might feel like he was dumb or trash. Personally, I would have preferred if he took the other end of the spectrum of revenge and just went all out still not caring of the good of others. For example, even going as far as killing the family of the killer... I still wouldn't have been on his side but they would have made more sense to me in the context.

Hi Hello

Insane movie, but I can’t get over that one person in the chat that kept posting graphic rants about cutting the guy’s dick off every five minutes…like, we get it, I think once is enough 💀

Bria A.

the chat stupid af, this is a good movie man. people aren't computers, they're idiots. everyone's behavior is believable if your not dumb af. also people are weak but far more durable than you think.. except for the girls, like fight back at least a little

Jurassic Jordan

someone else in the comments put it very nicely. He was looking for that right time that finally satisfied his grief and it consumed him and everyone else around him. It's easy to say "oh i would do xyz in this situation" when you're NOT in the situation. It's like if you're getting into a fight and you've trained in martial arts, that doesn't mean you won't get fucked up in a fight because real world experience is LEAGUES different than drills or sparring you might do.

Sevorai

whats so funny

Steven H.

Pretty sure the ending is the killer fearing for his son and family to come in and see him in that state. So no he did not won in the end especially since his son and family are the ones that "directly" killed him.

AintOP

Dude killed her

Quel Hilfiger

I’m glad I watched this movie with ya lol. I been meaning to check it out but seeing this now ain’t no way I could’ve watched it by myself 😭😂

Quel Hilfiger

Exhuma reaction needed

Candy

So I don’t get it what happened to he’s wife sister in the end she was just wrapped up in a blanket

Candy

We need that exhuma reaction

Candy

Also MC's revenge at the end was great because that was the absolute worst he could do to the killer without killing anyone. Like I wonder if Roshi even watched the movie when he said the revenge was not great😂

Sasha

Lmao.

Sasha

I think this movie has a great way of making you hate almost every major character to some extent. And I cannot justify how the mc let things go a bit too far couple times for the victims. But imagine this kind of situation for yourself. I don't think any of us would care much about other people's feelings at this point. The one moment in the movie when the killer said "You will soon know real pain" or some like that he should've immediately known whats up and went to father in law house. That one moment is the reason I don't see this movie as a masterpiece.

Sasha

They've seen it

Sasha

Watch New world 2013 korean movie

Ө. Өнөболд

Isn't the killer ol dude from Oldboy. Now that's a Korean film they NEED to watch.

Chelsea Bondzanga

cringiest comment i have ever seen on this patreon

Flippy

Yeah, the amount of people calling it 'bad writing' because they can't conceive of a MC that isn't some perfect shounen character is wild. It's not like the movie ever says he's making a good choice to do what he does. It's a tragedy about how his attempts at revenge just end up fucking up things way more. You can prefer a certain type of character but to act like a movie is objectively bad because the MC isn't a flawless W the whole time is stupid.

Louis Kalman

Yeah fr. Between chat and movie shenanigans my brain was starting to short circuit lol

GigaDirt

for real, the amount of "I feel so unsatisfied!!!" comments were hilarious. Like yeah thats the fucking point. The death was never going to feel good after everything he let him do.

General Crisp

KRYUSEI

The chat had me dying the whole movie lmao 🤣

Art of Trolling

Damn…YOURE RIGHT

Gary

I watched a lot of disturbing movie where there's no karma, no justice. Just pure torture from start to finish. But they great movie

Naw1n

oh lets go! God bless you and all your future endeavors!🙏🏿

madmax

Personally I disagree with this take about the movie being bad or MC being dumb cause it's not, this is pretty realistic. The MC is grief stricken and only focused on revenge him wanting to torture the killer and losing his sanity the more he goes on to do this is a pretty real thing anyone in his shoes would do despite what people say in a hypothetical sense they wouldn't know how to act if that happened to them in real life anyone when they're feeling that kind of grief and anger for happened to a loved one is not gonna be able to think rationally when the killer is right in front of you and that's why this movie is amazing I give it a 9.5/10

JsemicolonA

L MC for sure, and the serial killer must have a healing factor cause how dafuq lol

A. P.

If you need websites I use Onetouchtv.co and Viki. I recommend the top 2 very much! Mouse is about a serial killer, ad save me 2 is about a cult. Theres a save me #1 but it has a different cast/story and it's good as well.

Venus

Sorry but I stopped watching after the mc let him go and bro ended up SA that girl. I read the comments and apparently the mc is still an L throughout the movie. Respectfully I cant watch that it was so aggravating watching him come so late to save her.

Steven H.

I actually appreciate the message of the movie. It’s not revenge is bad but I think rather “Don’t let it consume you”. Chat was a lil annoying here. We’re so used to MCs that do everything right and win in the end, it’s tragic to see an MC that was human in his desire to see this killer face the same pain - only to have it be at the cost of the people around him. He very easily could have gotten his revenge the first time but he kept pushing in hopes of finding that moment to fill the grief and in the end: He lost everything and was left unsatisfied and alone. It’s a dark ending but I like it in a world of kdramas that have perfect MCs.

PetersThimble

do you really thing the MC gives a fuck about saving the day lmao

Venus

I will say Korean horror and thriller hit different they dont hold back like damn

Reckless Company

if yall want more movies like this i recommend: lady vengeance. memories of murder and mother

sam

I'm with Roshi, I remember when I 1st saw this movie how confused I was since I liked the movie but hated the mc so bad. This director's cut was a new experience but my opinion doesn't change the killer won. If someone I cared for was a victim of this killer and I had the skills of this mc to find the killer and hurt him, that is what I would do, I would make him feel pain for a set amount of time and then end him. NO CALLATERAL. I don't know in what universe anyone would have the idea of let me hurt him and treat him to go back out there so I can catch him again and keep redoing that! THIS MC IS 1st BALLOT HALL OF FAME WORST MC EVER SMH

Juan G.

weak and nobody is asking u to watch it

mercury_black17

Kingdom or no tears for the dead please these streams are great

PJ Rivera

Bro you didn’t got banned, that’s wild stuff there

Tancho22

Please react to Kingdom. It is a korean zombie series. A trio reaction would be awesome but duo is good. Please let us know if you have already watched it before.

Greece Shrestha

Recommendation for fun movie stream: The Room (2003)

HikiFan

Nobody is forcing YOU to watch tho

BaboGG

This movie hits alot the more times ive watched it. Kyung-chul's family finding his head just like Soo-hyun found his dead wife's head, shoudlve been the start, yet he got selfish in wanting to get his anger out on him and at the end of it all, gave him no pleasure upon killing him. He may have won in terms of Kyun-chul dying, but becuz of his selfishness of not offing him when he should have, many ppl suffered and Soo-hyun lost more ppl he cared about including his sanity.

Jazmyne Mattucci

Nah I did. I didn't listen. I should've listened.

DJ

1:57:23 when unko kami arrives, He's gonna wanna party and ya gotta tell him no! lmao

Delinda Arts

Agreed. People are used to black and white characters. I wish the chat were able to take a look at the whole picture and understand why the mc did this. The movie also doesn't represent his actions as good or the right thing to do. His actions and grief harmed other people including others he cared about. He does everything imaginable someone in his shoes might do if they wanted to make the villain suffer but it doesn't bring him any satisfaction

MrSolstace

I feel like we're so used to main characters winning and drafting crazy meticulous plans in movies that we forget what reality is really like. I think the point of the movie was for the mc to lose and feel unsatisfied by the end of his revenge. The consequences of revenge, that was the theme... The mc was supposed to feel selfish too because that's what intense grief does to you. Hard to watch, but not a bad movie at all.

Luna Mé

this movie dumb af 😂, the mc let the killer go n comes and saves the day hella late 😂. the mc hella slow ☠️

Redd

checked out on this one ngl. hard watch

JJ

Ohhh I meant the korean movie either the first one (subversion) or the second (the other one)

Chelle

madmax

i thought this was gonna be a demon flick not a slasher. Lets not watch anymore of these.

Radeon500

yep he kinda ruins the story lol but the other parts are good and defo having watched it as a reaction makes the movie a lot better

cornett0

is that really true if i watch the same reactors you do and watch all their content because if that's so then that means you have bad taste too lol 😂

cornett0

i know you have awful taste in movies lol..

Son Goku

If someone just wants to feel good by the bad guy getting their comeuppance by the good guy they probably going shouldn't be watching these movies

David James

The whole police department is incompetent lmao. I don't think you were ever really meant to like the lead.

David James

Regardless, this was an incredible movie!

Thulani Mason

thats in my top 5 kramas. Thriller is my fav genre. Heres my list if yall enjoy thrillers 1. Mouse 2. Save me 2 3. Strangers from hell / The Guest (their tied) 4. Flower of Evil 5. Kingdom I have a lot more to watch so these might change. Im about to start Revenant and blind

Venus

You gotta be more specific “The Witch Part 1: Subversion” is the Korean movie. “The Witch” is the American horror movie with Anya Taylor Joy lol

Seany Park

lol you didnt see them talking about massive trigger warnings in the chat?

Venus

he's concerned about his revenge and grief, not other people. i thought that was demonstrated clearly. also that is still revenge. Revenge has a definition and this fits it. You can't choose how someone takes revenge. Sheera was right tbh

Venus

Man, on a rewatch the MC is unbearable! It was like rewatching breaking bad and hating Walter lol

GormleyPeach

aight overall this movie pissed me off at times, my guy has never held a gun, good movie though to react to

madmax

Movie is great, chat didn't get the point like usual lol, brainrotted children in there. Mc isn't supposed to be likeable

GigaDirt

I disagree with Sheera in that this isn’t simply one of those “revenge is bad” themed movies cause dude literally could’ve gotten his revenge the first time he caught him and nobody else would’ve had to gotten traumatized or killed. Multiple times the MC had this guy dead to rights and he kept letting him go. To hunt him down again. At that point it’s more than just revenge. Like for 99.9% of people. Revenge would be killing this guy the first time they caught him. The was deeper than simple revenge

Semaj Brown

When are roshi and sheera gonna learn that head wounds bleed an extreme amount that is often still treatable. The father in law got his eye smashed in so he bled like crazy. Villain Def would have died from the Hella fractured skull but the cannibal and father in law were relatively pretty survivable.

mason zeo

The legendary Choi Min-Sik always showing up and knowing his assignment 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Delinda Arts

Bro, what y'all got Mom and Pop watching?!

Thulani Mason

Only pet peeve with this movie is how everybody has hard ass heads.

JohnnySmoke

This movie got me into Korean Cinema years ago. Been a wrap ever since.

DatBoi Lol

I didn't dislike the MC. I found him selfish but I didn't take any of his selfishness as a personal thing. He also didn't let the victims die. He did save everyone except his family but he let things happen to the victims. I do think he should have died at the end because I don't know how we would live on with the grief. The killer's death also was not satisfying. The movie was still good, though. Good cinematography and storytelling even if the plot didn't go how I wanted. I gave it an 8/10 when I watched it. Yall should watch Midnight, Exhuma, and Unlocked next. 2 of them are korean thrillers, and one of them is a Korean horror movie.

Venus

Not gonna lie, I tuned in with y'all in the beginning.... as soon as the girl started getting chained up I clicked off and said y'all got this. I'll be there for the next one.

DJ
