All she knew about him were the rumors other people told about him, because he was a quiet person who kept himself. As beautiful as some parts of the anime are, it's also really hard to sell people an anime with the concept being literally Mecha meets intercourse innuendos with girls being bent over used as control panels....

The subs may not have expressed it well enough, but Miyamura was basically implying that even Hori's friendship with him is fake -- just her doing it out of pity. For Hori this is likely the first REAL friendship she's had with someone, because Miya is the ONLY person that she can be completely herself around. Her classmates think of her as this smart, polished, popular student, and she feels forced to hide her not-so-polished parts, like how emotional she is, how she doesn't have a social life that would be expected of a "popular student", and that she has a non-traditional home life where both her parents are barely there and this basically requires her to be a second mom. She can only share these parts of herself comfortably with Miya, and she really thought they had a close bond because of it. Miya implying otherwise basically makes their closeness out to be a one-sided illusion, which is why she was so upset.

There’s some lists that go over watch order but it’s kinda complicated. Like you have to jump from one episode in season 1 for 10 min, jump to an ep in season 2 for another 10 min and then go back to the season 1 episode. There might be a way to watch episode by episode that doesn’t jump too much or you could just watch season 1 then 2 after to make it easy

I think japanese schools are on the conservative side so things like hairdye, piercings (for men), tattoos are forbidden in school so he can't wear them there. he uses his long hair to cover up the ear piercings and the glasses to take the attention away from the peircings in his face.

Besides, when shows do focus on character development, you’ll get a million and one complaints about it being too slow, and how they need to pick up the pace because nobody cares about the side characters. It’s always a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation, and it’s damned annoying. It would be nice if Oshi no Ko revealing everything about the entertainment industry would have a lasting impact on both the distributor and consumer sides of the industry that would fix these issues, but I’m not holding my breath.

It just felt weird to go back and watch a bunch of disconnected scenes out of chronological order that don't really change the main gist of anything. A super cut where the scenes were put back in order would make me waaaaay more interested.

I'll give them points for creativity, but their attempt to rectify skipping so much of the manga didn't work out. S2 felt like someone was deciding on which stories to tell by throwing darts at the calendar and expecting you to remember how much or how little the characters have grown at that point in time. In my opinion (and I know others feel the same way), Horimiya doesn't work when the stories are told out of order, which is why the decision to skip over so many manga chapters made it hard to adapt a second season.

I think the "tiny happenstance" referenced in the title was Miyamura being there when Shota fell and then him bringing Shota home, which then led to Hori and Miyamura connecting outside of school.

Piercings and especially tattoos have negative connotations (tattoos are often associated with the Yakuza) and do not give off a good first impression in their society.

Hori and Miyamura have very different personalities than typical romance anime MCs. They both have pretty detailed stories on their own that explains their personality and I love seeing them figure out their relationship. It’s so wholesome. I’m very much here for Your Lie reactions sometime in the future, but Horimiya is a special story to me personally

Also I'm just gonna say this now, Hori and Miyamura's relationship in this show is a lot like Mai and Sakuta's from Bunny Girl Senpai in many ways. Some people think both Mai and Hori are abusive, but if anything it just shows how comfortable they are being around their manz. Also, they're both tsundere's and that's kinda just how they are in anime.
