@nickolas giotis How are plants better in every way than humans? Regular plants die immediately without human intervention and independents are a mixed bag. At best, you get someone powerful like Knives; at worst, you get humans with insane lifespans. Not to mention that it seems like independents are rare in the first place.

2024-08-16 02:13:34 +0000 UTCtbf (most) plants can not live without being sealed and maintained by an outside source, while all humans in noman’s land can not live w/out the resources plants provide - so the plant/human relationship SHOULD be a mutually beneficial symbiotic one. like the little birds that clean the teeth of crocodiles, or clownfish and anemone. but a series of fuck ups from multiple sources started a cascading domino effect of fuckery where now everyone is losing

2024-08-12 15:08:31 +0000 UTCSo the PLANT(s) are beings used for energy by humans and once the Earth was cooked they left to find another planet. They ended up on this sand one because of Nai crashing them. They said The PLANT can live by themselves but would die much quicker without human management but then how did they live before being used by humans?? I don’t really get that part. Moving on, the doctor in the flash back seemed that he was trying to help Nai in “freeing” the PLANT but then the humans of that ship basically said fuck it and used all the energy from the ones there causing Nai to spazz? wtf was the plan because idk what they were trying to achieve.

2024-08-12 05:43:50 +0000 UTCWow the comments on this episode are ripe with opinions I thought near extinct. It makes a ton of sense, I guess you've just lived privileged enough not to understand. People already discriminate with near no differences, you think people with random superpowers would somehow solve that? Never knowing if the person you're having a disagreement with might leave you stranded teleported to another country as a consequence? Of psychically altering your mind? The minds of those around you? How about you never getting ahead in life because there's always a better mutant option to take your place? You can't compete with that. And while that doesn't HAVE to result in suffering, without MASSIVE changes (something we're already bad at) to the way things currently operate most everywhere, it absolutely will. And all that being BEFORE adding in the discrimination. Your opinion is quite silly Nick.

2024-08-11 22:54:25 +0000 UTCWow it's been so long since I've seen anyone say something like this I had almost forgotten some people really don't get it. And for what it's worth... I remember once thinking this way as well (or adjacent anyways) so I can't be too judgmental. If you think of it in the simplest terms (which you are), yeah things can't just get 'used up' where you convert all there is into nothing. But the phrase has more flexibility than you're allowing for. "Used up" in this sense is converting not even all but simply *enough* resources into a state where repurposing them takes too much time, effort, or energy to outweigh the cost of doing so. Translating the idea back into simple terms to better mesh with your current thinking, it's a credit debt beyond your ability to pay off. It's not like it's infinite, it can technically be paid down... but you have reached a point where you will never generate funds fast enough to overtake the interest payments. The resource that is truly used up is time. There is only so much of it where we get to make meaningful decisions, and unfortunately most of it is when we respect the gravity of that fact the least. The other resources will continue on as you say. Without us.

2024-08-11 22:42:17 +0000 UTCima take a guess and say since the plants produce something and vash doesn't maybe his ability is to take rather than create hence the black hole?

2024-08-10 22:05:52 +0000 UTCI love Stampede's iteration of Trigun, it moves things along more quickly than the OG anime but I wish it was more close to the manga than it is. I can't wait for Stargaze, hopefully best girl will show up.

2024-08-09 13:52:37 +0000 UTCo real quick explanation - in episode one its clearly established that the ship vash and nai were on carried people and plants. nai crashing the ship was successful, but rem prevented all the other ships from crashing and basically fucked up nais 'no humanity' policy on the new planet. the problem seems to stem from the fact that the planet they're on isn't habitable for either plants or humans, meaning that instead of the intended symbiotic relationship - where plants are prevented from dying by humans, and humans can get resources from the energy produced by plants, instead humanity has to drain plants for everything they have. It's a really nasty moral dilemma, because nai really did make the situation much worse than it had to be, but neither is he totally incorrect about the fact that humanity is abusing plants. right now, Luida's plan seems to be the last hope for there to be any sort of peaceful resolution where everybody can coexist, and that could still take centuries, even with the 150 year time skip. nd idk something tells me nai doesn't have the patience for a few more centuries for humanity to wean themselves of plants lol

2024-08-09 13:45:53 +0000 UTCEven if you really feel that way, Trigun started in 1995, before Final Fantasy 7 had similar eco themes. Millions Knives is almost Sephiroth before Sephiroth lol. "used up" in this case could just mean anything from making the planet uninhabitable due to climate change or some sort of alternate history super-fracking etc. Its left vague on purpose.

2024-08-09 03:39:23 +0000 UTCYou clearly know nothing about natural resources of the planet. These things don't just "appear" out of thin air. The earth has a delicate balance that, it thrown off, will affect the ecosystem for thousands of years to come. For example, did you know that most of global warming is human made? For the very short time that humans were inside due to the Pandemic, the rest of the planet flourished. Most cultures that people consider "uncivilized" live in harmony with their environments. The few that don't destroy everything like a plague. It's common sense to literally everyone except people with ideas like yours that when you upset the balance of a system it can't function properly. Maybe you should educate yourself before spreading more nonsense like this. You're living in a time where the world is literally teetering on teh balance because of people like yourself. And , no offense, but your ignorance isn't going to fuck me or my kin without hearing about it. So please skip the "relax bro" you're probably thinking of loading. This train of thought is dangerous to all of us.

2024-08-09 02:50:38 +0000 UTCRem didn't crash the Plant ship she just made sure that the human's ship didn't crash.

2024-08-09 02:18:19 +0000 UTCTbh they are superior lol. The whole anti mutant thing in the stories makes no sense. Why would anyone hate mutants they're still basically humans and it's not like overnight humans go extinct, it's a gradual change and there is no need to fight it
nickolas giotis
2024-08-09 01:54:37 +0000 UTCStill wrong. We absolutely could use up earth's resources but it'd be an insanely big effort. Burning some coal and chopping down trees for a few centuries ain't gonna cause doomsday. We could strip mine the entire planet to build space structures or something similar in scale to achieve destroying it. But as it stands climate change is a really deep pothole on the road to an interstellar empire not a extinction event
nickolas giotis
2024-08-09 01:51:33 +0000 UTCit's an anime. Why is that the one thing you want to judge based on reality?
PolarToni
2024-08-09 01:07:31 +0000 UTCWhen they use that trope it's more in reference to the utility of Earth for humanity to live in. Let's not forget Earth's origin as a toxic wasteland. If "doomsday" ever came to the planet you could probably bet Earth could slowly (over another nth billion years) return to status quo. But for living beings who'd want to wait that long for repair? So in that POV "good job numbnuts you used up all the precious resources. Refresh clocks in 4.9 billion years".
Gabby Boakye-yiadom
2024-08-09 00:58:09 +0000 UTCThe "you used up earth's resources" bit is such a played out trope that it's genuinely hilarious. The only resource that can genuinely be "used up" and not replaced would be fossil fuels. New water is created every day, landmasses grow an dare created with volcanic eruptions, life is born everyday, etc. the idea of earth being completely unlivable is a lie.

2024-08-08 23:53:21 +0000 UTCKnives fits the original Magneto, not this modern "not actually all that bad" Magneto. The real Magneto was basically a racist who thought mutants were superior to humans in every way.

2024-08-08 23:36:18 +0000 UTCComparing Knives to Magneto is actually pretty accurate? Not necessarily the Stampede varient, as he has some differences that I feel don't really fit the comparison, but Knives from the Manga VERY MUCH fits being compared to Magneto. I misremembered, the manga only thing happens in episode 10, not 9. Super excited for that regardless. Next week is gonna be WILD. I have my complaints with Stampede, purely it's kind of desacration of Knives as a character. They changed his backstory motivations, and made him kind of a singular driven character when he's far more complex in the manga. Kinda hoping Stargaze fixes this flaw, because he's one of my favorite tragic villains.
