Trigun Stampede Ep 8

rough life

Comments

@Peach If Knives didn't try genocide, the plants would be far better off and wouldn't need to be drained so hard from humans trying to survive. He got radicalized by a group of researchers doing fuck shit (he even keeps the head researcher around) and decided to genocide humanity. Everything else from that is his damn fault.

Matthew Tigue

Hold on Rem kinda bad tho👀

Jalani Abdul-Aziz

Am I tripping? Where’s supacell?

DsWorldd •

Is Knives wrong though?

Peach

It hasn't been said how long ago the crash was yet

Peach

isn't everybody in the current story timeline a descendant of people from the crash? So it's been hundreds of years?

Otulp

The original anime is a lot of fun, but it's deviates from the manga that is has an anime-only ending. Maybe also check out the manga.

Brandon Acevedo

This series is one of my favorites, and a big reason is the storytelling. It's just done so fluidly. The episodes fly by so fast because it's really easy to get immersed in the story. Can't wait for tomorrow's reaction!

WorldWideLove2000

Literally. Roshi tends to vibe with the villains 😅

WorldWideLove2000

Wasn't it literally the first birthday party they had, not one-year-old birthday?

Bart the Beard

Yeah but that's spoiling one of season 1's twists. So let's not mention that until the last episode?

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

To be fair, season 2 is going to have a lot of the stuff from the og, like Millie

Ghost_Troupe

REALLY excited for tomorrows reaction, considering episode 9 introduces an element that the OG anime never adapted.

While Plants do produce things, it's specifically meaning as forms of energy! It's most likely that Knives is some form of Spacial Energy Plant, considering how he tugged Vash into a different plane/knocked him out in episode 3. I will say that technically Vash and Knives being specific Plants is Stampede Only, they're just Independants in the Manga, though an argument for that could be made considering what will happen in Episode 9. Not gonna say anything else due to spoilers! Episode 8 isn't... bad. I just really hate miscommunication plots. The writing for this episode just feels a bit? weird? Episode 9 gets a little better, and then 10-12 we're back to normal good writing. Episode 8 is just a flop for me personally.

Ashes2Ash

I can already hear Roshi siding with Knives.

They should definitely check out the OG anime on Hulu it's really good. There's more mystery about finding out who vash is and you get to spend more time to get to know him. Things moved faster in this anime compared to the OG where you get many of your questions answered real quick. It's not a bad thing but the OG is something to look at too.

LaTesha

Sheera and Roshi saying: SIR!!!! They be the first two to get clap trusting someone lol

Luhbabytay

In the manga plants are alive. They look more like angel creatures tho. At least that’s what I’ve heard some manga readers say.

Malaika

OG Trigun is still a classic pacing isn't as fast as Stampede but arguably you get to connect with Vash and his ideals more.

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

I don’t want to say too much, but, there’s quite a bit that does and doesn’t parallel with the OG anime and the manga. Unfortunately, some things are easy to trip up over. A lot more gets clarified in Trigun Maximum, especially ALL of the members of the Gung-ho Guns. There were only a handful of them in Trigun. I always took “Plant” to be a double meaning. They’re beings meant to power Ships and cities like a power plant but also the name humans gave their race, because they self-produce energy like plants. In the manga, the plants look like regular people in the “light bulbs.” I remember ever seeing them in the OG anime. Just the bulb. What made Knives and Vash special was that they could survive without the light bulbs, they could communicate with humans (speak), and they’re males. I hope that helps.

So the thing is the OG Trigun anime adapted half of the full story and the author essentially gave them the key points of what he had in mind for the ending to complete the anime. There's Trigun (OG adapted) and Trigun Maximum , Maximum went more in depth the concept of the Plants and Vash's actual origin which was a lot more biblical in nature where the Plants were more like Angelic beings rather than in Stampede where they're more like Aliens.

Gabby Boakye-yiadom

Don’t listen to Lupa. Go and see the OG

YoNoSe11

They're really going in on Vash's backstory here compared to the OG anime, which is good in a different way. It was way more mysterious for a lot longer in the original; we don't even get confirmation that Vash is a plant until he confronts Knives at the very end of the series. What throws me off is that the "Plants" in the original show were just shown to be giant lightbulb like things that produce water and power etc, not freaky aliens, or at least not that I remember. So when Vash says he and Knives are plants, I just took it to mean he's a plant (like Groot), not plant as in "nuclear power plant", so it never occurred to me they were saying all the power plants in the show were aliens like Vash. Was this always the intended meaning, and they just made it overtly clear this time around, or is it a reimagining of the original concept? Edit: Okay so I did some research, and as others have pointed out there are several things at play here. 1. The anime did not adapt the full story of the manga as it wasn't finished at the time 2. The loan word for "(power) plant" in Japanese is literally just "Puranto" so it's much clearer in the original Japanese than in the dub and 3. I might have missed Episode 21 back during the original airing which shows a Plant as a weird lifeform, different from how it was shown in an earlier episode as just a machine with sci-fi lights. It was so much harder to watch an Anime in order from start to finish in the 90s unless you bought the VHS/DVDs or set your VCR to record 💀
