Buddy clearly feels a type of way and I ain't about that, but I will challenge the idea that death=stakes in a series, simply because that's baby writing. I'll even use JJK as deconstruction of the idea, the killing of Nobara. It's quite literally a "pointless act", she was too weak and after Thunderclap 1 and 2, there is no narrative importance of killing her. It does nothing for the stakes, however, Nitta attempting to preserve a dead girl sparks hope in Yuji to perserve and THAT alone is the biggest narrative reason the threat of her death is significant to overall story. Bakugo not dying doesn't negate the stakes, but it clarifies what the stakes are: we must keep fighting for a different future than our present situation, no matter what.

In the grand entirety of this show being out, the only people we've had die and stay dead are Midnight who we didn't get to connect with and was off-screened, and Nighteye who we only knew for 1 season. Just because we read the same manga doesn't mean we have the same reading comprehension. Lol Killing Bakugo is the laziest route here because it does absolutely nothing narratively at all but make AFO happy and Deku sad which is pointless. And considering the save that happens, which is quite literally the entire point of the series coming into fruition, killing both Mights does nothing for the story except making the stakes stakier for no reason. It doesn't add to the gravitas more, it doesn't complete any arcs meaningfully, and it wastes one of your best.
