Sort of like a Quintessential Quintuplets situation. Either that or he remembers playing with Alya, but he doesn't remember his interactions with Masha.

Even if it does come to light, sheâs going to do everything she can to push Alya and Masachika together. And thatâs ignoring the fact that Masachika probably has stronger feelings for Alya than the girl who the only thing he can remember about her is that he learned Russian to speak to her.

2024-07-25 18:39:19 +0000 UTCAlya never calls Masachika by his first name, Masachika because of like the formalities must like in Kaguya-Sama, Kaguya only ever calls Miyuki, President or Shirogane. The culture in japan is that people call each other by their first names only when they're a family member or really close but as acquaitance or co-workers they call each other by their surnames. Because alya said his name as "Kuze" which is his surname, Masha is unaware it was masachika the whole time considering she probably never even knew his full name, only Masachika. And because she has a nickname for him, "Sa-Kun" and doesn't use "Masachika", alya doesn't know that they've already met before all the more making things complicating.

After those 5 years in Russia she moved back to Japan in 3rd year of Jr. High where the flashback took place (1 year before present). Also usually when they say "given name" in anime they're talking about first name. Masachika is his first name and Kuze is his last name. I'm guessing Kuze was his father's last name and Suo was his mothers. I'm assuming Alya just referred to him as Kuze to his sister so she didn't know his first name before (Besides when they were children).
