IM CONFLICTED On one hand a lot has changed about Trigun and the characters. But on the other hand, you can see specific scenes from the original show done in this new format! I wonder if they’ll keep why the show was called trigun?

I knew things would be different given the first couple of episodes but this one is total 180 from the vibes of the original show. I might be remembering wrong because it's been 20+ years but very few people died in that show, almost all of them villains and none of them innocent bystanders. I for sure remember Vash saving all the townswomen in the original version of this arc so to see them get turned into a bloody mist had me fucked up. Vash failing to protect everyone?? Ain't no way. Between all of that and Knives' new powers - his name was never meant to be taken literally in the original lmao, the Dr. Octopus Knives were a surprise - I have no idea what to expect anymore.

Hence July... existing and Meryl being older. Remember, in original Trigun, July happened DECADES before Meryl was born. a lot of timeline shenanigans are happening here.

Trigun Stampede very much takes more parts of the manga that weren't adapted in the original show, which had a completely "different" end to it. When the original Trigun was being made, we didn't have much of the follow up manga (Maximum) to adapt. Trigun itself ran in a shounen magazine, despite its clear seinen elements, and made the switch to a seinen magazine, which led to "Trigun Maximum", which technically starts where this one ends. HOWEVER. I would not recommend reading maximum after stampede, unless you start the whole manga from the beginning. Stampede is its own thing, it's aesthetic leaning more towards scifi then western, and it changed the timeline a lot. excited to see what else they impliment from the manga in stargaze, which is "coming soon".

This episode is just so awesome, especially knives and the OST. Also Studio orange put 12/10 effort in to the climax of this episode, that’s it hard not appreciate it
