Procedural Neon E (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Hey everyone,

Hope you doing well and staying cool is super hot here these days and im losing my mind!!!
In this part we gonna explore a very unique technique for creating self luminance procedural shapes and typo.
What I do in Octane also applies in Redshift so just follow along with same steps and you will be able to repoduce it. Lots of small details to pay attention to and these type of setups really rely on how sharp one's eye is for details.

Let me know what you think!
I also used an app to fix the sound let me know if I sound too weird haha but hey at least no stupid echo!

Cheers,
T.

Procedural Neon D (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Happy summer everyone!

I hope you are keeping cool wherever you are, as Greece is already hot!

In this part I am gonna dive deep into look dev with Octane and procedural lighting setups. We are gonna create a system where only by using illustrator files we will be able to fully flesh out procedural and detailed / complex neon lights.

Let me know if any questions!
Cheers,
T.

ps. dont forget to check the project files, I just updated them with more setups

Happy month!

Starting May with LA out of playoffs (for NBA fans) but hey, still one of the classic logos. I am gonna show you how to render logos starting with simple stuff and increase the complexity going forward. Devil is in the details!!

Let me know if any questions and stay tuned for the next part as its dropping also soon.

Thanks,

PROJECT FILES

Hello!

I hope everyone is doing great! I know we ve done few parts already for modelling both in Cinema4D and Houdini, but never finished with rendering and more advanced techniques to drive the whole setup home.

So this month, wrapping up the Neon series and exactly after that we gonna tackle even more complex neon based wallpapers/abstract stuff.

Many thanks,

Procedural beer part D (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Hey hey,

On this last part of this mini series, I am gonna show you how to successfully light and render a glass of beer. It is always quite challenging to render liquids/glasses/foam in any sort of context as there are a lot of parameters we need to be aware before hand.

Eg. if modeling is wrong or no UVs or intersections etc. these are things that require certain experience to know that will cause problems down the line. And usually these type of projects, do not show the problems until render time.

In any case I hope this one covers a bit of my process behind lookdev and technical challenges and hopefully will be of help to similar projects on your end.

Happy rendering!

Procedural beer part C (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Happy Friday!

Let's do the same thing with native C4D particles.

Now this needs way more complex thinking even for basic things like that, as c4d particles have way less functionalities on the front end of things. And that is my main complaint about a system that works very well and super fast but you need to think like a programmer to start doing anything a tad more controllable and complex.
Personally, this is a great mental exercise but I can understand that for new people, it can get a bit overwhelming.

In any case, I am using native particles same as xparticles, depending on what I have in mind.

Going forward I will translate all my scenes to native c4d particles to get a 1:1 comparison of how the system behaves.

Have fun and let me know if any questions!

Procedural beer part B (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

After dealing with geometry animation, let's tackle the fizz -i think its called like that?
In this example I am gonna use Xparticles and on the next part I am gonna use c4d native particles to compare the two systems.

Patreon / Life updates! (PLEASE READ)

Hey friends,

I hope everyone is doing well! Finally found some time for housekeeping, restructuring stuff internally and.. offload some personal thoughts!

Pricing adjustments: After 3.5 years I had to increase the pricing a little bit for each tier. Going forward some tiers that are hidden, will not get updates anymore - as I am trying to gently push people to actively support- and all other tiers will see 4-5$ bump. I hope you will find this fair, considering the amount of content everyone has access to for the last 6 years or so. I totally understand if this can be a burden to some. I hope that you will still find what I do valuable over time.

Annual membership: It is finally here, check it out on "Promotions" tab or try to change your current membership and option will appear (not sure how it works)

New "Studio" tier: For small studios and companies so employees can have access. Plus access to private Discord channel.

Student tier: Considering a very affordable option for people that are on their first steps in universities. Upon request and let me know your thoughts here please.

Content updates: As I am switching to full time educator - oh yes, this is happening soon- I hope that Patreon and other things that I am planning, would be my main source of income going forward. This way I can finally dedicate myself to this community, to find free time for more personal/meaningful work and RND in order to help people find jobs and meaning in an industry that is not what it used to be.

Life: In full transparency, the last few years client work has been in the middle of my educational path. I spent 1.5 years at Apple, effectively leaving me with 0 things to share, despite the fact I did thousands of frames and RND. None of this will ever see the light of day. Rest of client work, even in great studios, is usually of low quality and purely serving client needs or under NDA. Which again, leaves me with nothing to share in this Patreon or excited at the end of the day. Nothing wrong with client work and I am blessed to have it; just does not really align anymore with what I am passionate about.
I have been juggling my time like crazy so I can catch up with our amazing community and with my family at the same time. Doing RND on my limited free time solely for providing more content, advising, mentoring, casual chatting while same time trying to evolve and stay up to date, it had a significant toll on my health. Yesterday was my birthday, I am 45 - quite old for motion design if you ask me - and got me really thinking what would next steps might be.

Mentorship: As you know I introduced a new mentorship tier 2 months ago to help people in a more effective way. I am intending to expand this -for those that repeatedly ask for more spots. Apologies, my time right now does not allow me to handle more than 10 individuals but this is something that will soon change! And luckily for me, noone is leaving so far. I guess that is good?? haha

Courses:  Again for those that keep asking: Yes god damn it, they are coming and I hope it will worth the wait. Apologies, its been promised for a very long time, that is why I had the need to explain myself earlier.

Burnout: Its f***ng real. Add on top some health issues that I am dealing with last 2 years... It is the first time I share personal things like that publicly and feels a little weird. On the other hand, Patreon felt always personal space to me, thanks to all of you being so open and kind about everything. That is why I wanna do things about myself going forward. Not getting any younger!

I am grateful for the support and kind comments I received over the years. It fuels me and full fills me, as I find real purpose in sharing my knowledge to younger people, while at the same time helping professionals overcome day to day obstacles. I wanna dedicate myself to this venture and take the next step. I have something in the works for the upcoming months and I am super excited about it.
Cannot say more for now. All I can say is that expect me to be more present and involved while helping everyone to get their motion design obsession to the next level. Provided that I am still relatively healthy -has been challenging recently- and still relevant with what motion design evolves to next.

One more time, HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE! Your support and kindness has been instrumental these last few years. Stay tuned!

Have a great weekend!

Hello,

Concluding this series breakdown with rendering everything in Octane plus some tips about scattering, grass, proxies etc.

There are some more important aspects to this project like particle sims. I am gonna tackle those in a separate series including both X-particles and native c4d particle setups.

I hope you enjoyed this big case study and feel free to ask any questions below.

Have a great weekend!

New "Mentorship" tier!

Hey everyone,

I just created a new tier -after many requests- for personal feedback and mentorship. One hour call with me upon request to discuss anything: from career advice to technical stuff.
This tier has a limit of 10 people per month, as it is what my schedule allows for the moment. Also access to Discord server (this will eventually roll on all tiers, need to see how it works first).

You can find it in the "Membership" section of Patreon page.
Once you sub, please DM me to arrange everything.

Thanks a lot for the massive support all those years and hope this new tier to be of use to some of you.

Cheers!
T.

edit: wow, tier is already completed for this month! thank you all for the massive support.

Procedural Neon B (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Hello :)

We start this month with Houdini time!

Took me a while to record a Houdini tut as I am so on and and off with this software and its hard for me to explain things clearly. I am creating a fully procedural neon light and while the result seems quite simple, covers many fundamental SOP operations both in theory and practice.

I know a lot of questions probably, so please dont hesitate to spam below and I will do my best to explain things further. Coming up some c4d madness this week, so please stay tuned!

Cheers!

Happy new year!
I hope you had few days off to recharge and gather your thoughts together.
I will get back to Mograph Camp after this mini series, as I wanted to showcase my approach when it comes to procedural neon setups in Cinema4D.
Funny thing is, in Houdini is way easier to keep track of what you are doing and with much more control, but hey, I gave it a shot in our "favorite" piece of software :)

Cinema4D 2025.1 advection (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

I somehow cracked all PBD advection stuff in Cinema4D 2025.1
There are many bug fixes that helped things work better in this version and I hope you find some good uses for this effect.

It is more complex than it should be at this point, but at least we got something we can play around and have all rbd, cloth, rope working with pyro forces.

Let me know if any questions!

I was about to advect some stuff but I stumbled upon this setup from the past that I'm happy to report that it still applies to new version of c4d.

If you wanna have the whole series in depth regarding this, check it here:

Next up is advection -again- this time with much more success in unifying all dynamics!

Cinema4D 2025.1 updates (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Hey, I sneaked a quick one to showcase some things in new Cinema4D that came out 2 days ago. There are a lot of bug fixes, so be sure to update if you are on the 2025.x versions.
I also managed to do almost proper advection with this version, so this month i might take a little detour -call it xmas bonus?- and add more things than usual on top of my current explorations for Camp Mograph.

Let me know what you think of new Cinema4D and what are you favorite features so far from 2025 version.

Camp Mograph part F (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Hey friends, its been a minute!

End of the year is crazy here, I have lots of work, life stuff and on top a completely unstable pc that freezes and crashes -f*ck Intel for real- but I managed to start making content again + I am somewhat healthy so i guess thats a plus? haha

With this and that... in this new tutorial, I am showcasing how to create complex and detailed terrains without bringing your workstation on its knees, plus dive in some technicalities about creating realistic looking materials.

Let me know if any questions and most importantly: how do you feel by the end of this year? I am personally exhausted and burned out haha

Cheers!

C4D ui and plugins (QUICKTIP)

Camp Mograph part D (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Hey everyone,

I hope autumn is treating you well so far!
In this part I am gonna talk about rbds and mograph and we gonna discover together the beautiful and buggy world of the new 2025 c4d version :)

I recorded this tutorial on 2025.0.0 but for a few days now there is 2025.0.1 out which has some bug fixes (unfortunately not the field driver ones that I show case as problems in this video).
I would not recommend using this version for production just yet, although it has a lot of bug fixes from the latest 2024. Honestly 2025 has almost nothing new, which is kinda disappointing but on the other hand I would gladly take bug fixes over new features at this point.

C4d has been a pain in the butt since 2024 version onward and while I do my best to bully and beg c4d stuff, still the issues are too many in my opinion.
And here I wanna apologise as I get many questions about setups not working etc. Sim stuff break completely from patch to patch and when you follow my tuts, please be aware that unless using the same version as mine, results might be different.

Rambled too long, let me know if you have any questions!
Cheers,
T.

Hey hey,

Not my usual day of uploading stuff, but I guess they are always welcome? lol
In this part I am gonna show you some cool wave-y VDB reveals and growths, expanding on the knowledge we acquired on the previous tutorial.

Btw 2025 Cinema4D is out since yesterday and I am curious to hear your thoughts about. My next tut will be there just to test things before going on client work with the new version.

I am also recording Houdini tutorials this month :)

Camp Mograph part A (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

First part of Camp Mograph explorations!

In this one I am gonna show you how I tried to bring into life the Uluru landmark combining World Creator and procedural techniques along with shading/lighting in Octane + a little bit of my thought process about the whole sequence.
Cool images are great (and im a big fan of this simplistic approach) but when doing this type of work, storytelling plays also an important part of your visual and defines your final outcome.

Let me know what you think so far!
