A lot of series don't even release a new novel every year. If he did get more involved in the adaptation then a lot of people's complaints for the series would go away.

I LOVE skip beat so much, and it definitely sparked my love for manga/anime/shows/movies/etc about actors. Despite it being an old shoujo, the author really stocks with making our main female lead be the go getter/careerwoman that she should be lol. Just not something i see often in shoujo, so much so that a whole different genre would have that (josei). Reading about kyoko and her relationships but most importantly her journey to become a great actress are so fun. (Yes this old ass series is still going on last i checked, which is weird, cause most of todays technology is too futuristic lol). There was also a 24 ep anime that aired way back. And a jdrama too i think?

I thought I was tripping for a good ten minutes lmao. My prediction is Akane either ends up outshining Kana and lands the "main" role of Tsurugi, or the rewrites fully alter the story in a way that makes them suited for each other's characters? Idk.

I would only have basic reasons for why certain adaptions of writing would change drastically such as time and money but there really are a lot of variables aside from those things that goes into adapting things well for the sake of the consumer.

It feels like it’s impossible not to see complaints about adaptations and how things are different whether it be Mushoku Tensei, Classroom of the Elite, Invincible, Slime, MCU etc. I think there’s always a balance that can be done with making something for TV and also retaining the majority of content. Also I’m so eager to see their reactions to when they adapt where the Oshi no ko manga is rn 💀
