2024-07-06 14:40:18 +0000 UTCYou know, when I heard that Bocchi the Rock got rid of almost all the fanservice from the manga, I was so annoyed. It, at first, felt like they were either keeping advertisers happy or taking content away from us in a non-consumer-beneficial way (Unlike the creative additions they added to the work). And other people called it woke, but I don't like that word. I've since decided I didn't care nor minded the decision they made. But most people called it a great decision. I know it gets highly praised for the decision of removing most or all fanservice and I was in the minority when I originally had that thought, but it just didn't stick right with me at the time. Anyways, as a non-trailer watcher coming into the series Dangers in My Heart, this show was filled with so much more fanservice all over the place than I expected. it almost made me wish the fanservice was, I don't know, halved? But not even because it bothers me personally, because don't get me wrong, I still love fanservice like any other degenerate, one of my favorite series that I watched this year was Gushing Over Magical Girls (Even read the manga to most recent chapter afterward). But by God, does it feel like a whole lot of fanservice here. And I know the reason why it feels that way for me, it's because I'm watching a reaction and not just watching the series myself, making me (Anxious? Fearful? - For lack of a better word) that the reactor is going to make a comment over it, so it makes me pre-annoyed with the thought that they'll devalue it or make a negative comment about it because of the fanservice. Luckily Roshi seems to be a good sport about it, but watching other reactors react to similar things (Mostly girls, though I don't believe it's because they're females and it's just a coincidence) they immediately get so offended, making me offended in return from how pissed off they get at something that I personally looked at as regularly as if someone picked up a phone, and they react like someone launched nuclear codes at a nursery. It made watching reactions to shows like My Dress Up Darling and Chainsaw Man painful. I'm just happy it didn't feel that way with those shows with Roshi either. Anyways this has been the obligatory overly long comment no one asked for that probably lost its original point halfway through and gets TL;DR'd. But I just wanted to say it.

Adachi's pervert infatuation with Yamada was no different than Ichikawa's morbid desire to murder her. Both of them had the same shallow feelings for a girl neither of them truly knew. It's just Ichikawa was the lucky one getting into a situation that lead him to getting to know her and casting off those fucked up urges. Adachi would have probably did the same if he was the one who got in a situation leading to getting to know her.

Adachi's base urges to fuck Yamada and Ichikawa's base urges to kill Yamada. They were essentially the same type of freak weirdos with weird fantasies and shallow feelings toward the same girl, it's just Ichikawa was the lucky one and got his chance first by complete accident. If Adachi and Ichikawa's place and timing were swapped, MAYBE Yamada would have liked Adachi and Adachi would develop proper feelings and kick his horny boy habit like Ichikawa did when he kicked his "I wanna fucking kill this bitch" mindset.

When you like someone it's almost always gonna be a shallow physical thing; its our nature most the time. He never got the chance to talk to Yamada because he kept being stopped from doing so by other forces. So he was stuck in the " I like her because she's attractive and cutesy " phase of his feelings and couldn't move to the " I like her for who she is " phase because Ichikawa stopped him every attempt. So I can never be upset at how he feels. It sucks when you're stuck feeling this way trying to get to someone you like just to be stopped from getting to know them and be judged as horny and shallow because that's the only legit feelings you have at the time. I mean that other guy who is dating the fat girl was just like him, attracted to her looks but got his shot to actually get to know her beyond his fat fetish and here's Adachi denied getting to know his infatuation. Happy he'll move on because being judged like that and knowing the person you currently like above all being out of reach is a suck ass feeling.
