I really hate being the "read the manga" person bc some ppl just wanna enjoy the anime and not everyone HAS to be a manga reader. But in this situation i just highly rec it if you enjoy the show thus far

2024-06-04 22:42:16 +0000 UTCI have so much to say about these last two episodes. None of it's good, but a lot to say regardless. So there's a TDLR at the bottom. First of all, they skipped over a ton more dialogue between the junior first class members (had extra lines that revealed more of their character in the last 3 episodes all of which were cut out), D's classmates (we still don't know much about most of their personalities in the anime cuz they keep cutting out dialogue), none of the jokes really work that well because of the way the episodes handle everything, and they skipped karasu's entire backstory. Also D revealing himself to koguma was so weird in the anime compared to the manga because of the pacing and cutting out of dialogue. Obviously that's not good, but besides that the second half of episode 8 is one of the most confusing things I've ever seen having read the manga. First of all, the pink haired girl and old guy didn't have anything resembling what they implied in the anime, so I have no idea where that came from. If it was to show him being manipulative or something that doesn't make sense either unless they decided to change his character since he's dismissive of anyone he doesn't find good enough to help him, not outright manipulative. Second, D was supposed to betray the team and hand over the yellow key before he knew about karasu's betrayal, and karasu was supposed to talk to the old dude before they got the key, which explains why despite being a coward he joined them so eagerly in the fight in order to get the key. Also D being under the table and them just not noticing is hands down one of the funniest bullshit moments ive ever seen. Ah yes the person who excels with guns and stealth doesn't notice the least stealthy person of all time ever in the worst hiding spot. Third, koguma's death had a major emphasis in the manga, and here it just happens super fast with no emotional weight because again, you don't actually know these people very well and for some reason they animated it like a random henchman being killed by his boss in a movie, where it's only focused on for like 3 seconds. And also I found it really funny that they literally just use all lowercase arial text that they copy paste whenever there's a to be continued. Man... the gap in quality between the manga and anime is crazy lmao. TLDR: anime adaptation really bad and nonsensically changes stuff but also since I've accepted that it's going to be terrible and stopped caring I kind of find it funny just how badly they're butchering the manga
