It's not legal technically but none of us are complaining lol plus there is no legal alternative as far as I know and as mentioned most people already seen it. There are some sites that let you watch something together legally by requiring both parties to own the show/movie or streaming service it comes from (netflix,hulu,etc) but those sites/apps don't let you watch it after the fact (basically livestreams it) and I don't think it could handle the amount of patreon subs these guys got.

Worst of all, he is torn away from his friends and allies, as they transform from people who love him into blind followers who love the Mahdi, swept up in the prophecy of a religion that isn't even their own, their culture collapsing around them because of his actions. Essentially, NOTHING went the way he wanted. He would've been happiest living a life of peace in the desert, with Chani and Stilgar and the other Fremen.

You'd have to read the books to get the full answer, but the "messaiah" is really just a genetically manipulated person and they were likely crossed with Harkonnens before many times. The Bene Gesserit plan has been going on for such a long time, and they don't reveal parentage, they marry cousins sometimes without telling them. The whole genetic tree of the Kwizatz Haderach is only known to reverend mothers and himself. The whole thing about Paul being "able" to become the Messaiah has as much to do with the planning of the Bene Gesserit over the years to literally create the religion for people to expect him as it does with his actual powers. They made a void and then provided the solution to fill it. So the answer is no, the Baron being his grandfather was not some kind of missing link to finally make Paul a real Messaiah, it's more like all these steps culminated in him fufilling his destiny, because SOMEONE was planned to do this someday. Jessica raised him to do so because she thought he could. It is supposed to be a reveal to show just how deep and insidious the plans of the Bene Gesserit are. Jessica managed to do this because she was the first one who succeeded. We don't hear the story about all the people who failed. It's a bit of confirmation bias, like if Oppenheimer thought he was "destined" to make the atom bomb. In reality, he just got there first.

Sorry, I sort of combined my thoughts on Feyd taking the test in here, but the answer is basically the same. They are given the test because they are Bene Gesserit, not because they are Harkonnen or royalty. Paul's mother also goes through the Gom Jabbar test, as does every Bene Gesserit. The point of the test is to make sure they can trust you with the immense power and long reaching plans of their order. Everyone that is trained in The Way is supposed to receive the test, I'm not sure if it happens on Arrakis though. Paul is an extra important case to them because he is a male, and that is restated many times in the book. He makes everyone in the Bene Gesserit, including his mother, feel incredibly uneasy.

The scene between Lady Fenring and Feyd Rautha is not in the books, there is no mention of her ever using the Gom Jabber test on him. To be honest, it makes little sense to me as to why Feyd needed to be tested in this way. Compared to Paul, he's harmless. Also, the test is meant to see if a human will ignore an unpleasant feeling and control their urges in order for a greater goal. Feyd loves pain, so the test wasn't even a test for him. He enjoyed it. This test is given to Paul in the books because he is a male with Bene Gesserit training, and that is highly unusual. In the past, whenever males had this power, they would use it for destruction and domination. It's not because he is Bene Gesserit breeding stock but because he was an unplanned male that was trained in The Way by his mother, which scares the fuck out of them.

I feel like they did fine. The purpose of a reaction is to theorize and share that with people watching the reaction. I read the first three Dune books so I had an idea of how to piece things together. When I first watched this in theaters I didn’t even pay attention to the reveal because I knew about it already. Lots of people think it was subtle/not that important anyway. Besides that, I don’t think they missed much… they just made theories which again, most people do and it’s not an issue. We have at least one more movie left from Denis Villeneuve and Timothée Chalamet as Paul so their questions will be answered later.

The Voice is tailored to an individual's subconscious by the user intimately evaluating every tiny little detail about that person's culture, personality, upbringing, history, etc etc. so you can't use it on a crowd because everyone in that crowd would require shaping "the Voice" a different way. Paul only ever said that to the same guy, he said it at the beginning of the first movie when he came in to train him. “Don’t stand with your back to the open” - “I recognize your footsteps.” Then when he had the vision at the spice field he said he recognized him again even though he was out of it. the specific name reported back to the harkonens isn't Atriedes is a fremen name and the only people to make it out went into hiding. And you aren't just going to assume the heir apparent to House Atriedes is suddenly in charge of the fremen because the harkonens interactions with the fremen was very antagonistic they assume someone is helping them now but can't confirm who it is. And during the sand harvester takedown because the legs move one at a time you don't know what the target sprinting for the next leg is doing before they do something else to surprise you since the other person you know can't penetrate your shield the only reason it worked is because paul knew firing the gun lowers the shield and the harkonens needed to stop them from destroying the crawler

Also fun fact abt Sandworm riding for any confusion. The Worm’s skin is just really thick hardened flesh-like scales that can be peeled and taken off. Sand entering in through the opening irritates the hell outta them so they are forced to above surface and can only travel on a certain side as to not let more sand in. Whether the Fremen discovered this from study and cohabitation with the beasts or created this method is unknown but you gotta admit it’s hella effective.

Thanks for replying, Lupa! I believe I speak for many people when I say, your reactions are amazing. The issue oftentimes is the timing. When there is talking over dialogue, it takes away from everyone's experience, especially when it's critical info the viewers should know. I recommend talking in between the dialogue. What also helps is keeping your eyes on the screen, even when talking/reacting. That way, if you do accidentally talk over the dialogue, at least there's a chance you caught what happened. We don't expect you to be perfect at this, but it would mean a lot if you could simply try to be more aware. Roshi has these techniques pretty much locked down. He usually doesn't talk over dialogue and his eyes are always locked in on the screen. Lastly, please take these comments only for what they are - respectful feedback. I appreciate you man and I wouldn't be paying you monthly if I didn't enjoy all of you on that couch. You making an active choice to listen and act on feedback would mean the world.

People should be allowed to naturally discover and interpret the story and themes of the art they're interacting with. This is like walking up to someone looking at a Monet or Van Gogh painting and giving them an unprompted history lesson and explaining the artist's whole identity before someone has even had a chance to view a second painting and decide for themselves. You are priming someone to have the experience that you want them to, and not the experience they will naturally have. And in my opinion, talking about characters in terms of good guys vs bad guys in this world is a mistake, and doing so will make the message seem very one-note, which I think is a disservice to what Frank tried to do with the series. But I won't get into more until we have Dune Messaiah adapted to film and can discuss it then. Going into the history about Frank's intent and future books that the new film fans haven't read yet is also a disservice because you are not allowing them to come to these conclusions on their own and reconcile how they feel about Paul independently when they read the sequel or see the 3rd movie.

You forget that not every vision Paul had before drinking the Water of Life came true. Remember, he saw Jamis as his mentor and yet he ended up killing him. Paul sees all possible futures at once. Now that he drunk the juice he has control and can see his way to the desired path. I think the writer/director said he's going to work on something else and take a break from Dune or it's going to drive him crazy. He's definitely going to continue the series, without question. It's too popular and has done too well in the box office to stop now.

Awesome reaction, this made my evening. Btw this movie is totally worth seeing a second time to get the theatre experience. I did a second run on it in a bigger theater than I could do on the opening day. Was 100% worth and would do a third if I'm feeling like it before it is out of theaters. I knew you guys would go back to check on that whole father/grandfather thing and figure it out, so I kept my hands off the pause button and comments till after haha. (tbh I didnt know like half of Feyd's lines until I saw this reaction with subtitles. We're all gonna miss something.)

Near the end, it’s shown that he really believed in what he was saying and was just a blind believer who didn’t even care about what Paul wanted.
