So before the show even dropped I randomly one day ran across an article about Anissa and Invincible and the contents were shocking to say the least. I read the article with zero context of what the comic was about but then the show actually came out to my surprise when I was going to start reading it but instead I watch the show. I say all this to just emphasize my level of shock when Anissa pulled up I was scared for very very different reasons than the gang so I'm glad she just gave him a stern talking to and hope that's all in the future as well 👀. P.S. I actually love her character design much better here.

I've watched this episode prolly 30 times, it feels like (1st watch + 1 million reactions) and I'm JUST now noticing (in another reaction video) That SHRINKING RAE... Never unshrunk back to normal. I know all her bones were broken, but if you notice how small the bed actually is, THEN notice how little of it she actually takes up, you'll see she might still be the same size as when she crawled out of homies mouth... Which is AWFUL. Nobody watches the Halo TV series, but a similar thing took a Spartan out of commission. I actually don't think him denying Anissa like that is respectable at all, way too prideful and risky. He's too worried about his gf and college than his actual job even though he gets dogwalked by actual strong opponents consistently. Towards the end of the first season when Cecile confronted Omni man in person, if you pay close attention (it’s a really minor detail) when Omni man blitzes Cecil the final time, like where he fought the reanimen, right before Cecile goes back to HQ ,Omni-man manages to grab and cut his tie and almost kills Cecile with the sheer velocity he was moving at which was also why Cecile flew back and when he landed back in HQ it was with only half of a smoking tie. He’s been teleporting to these locations not using a hologram, it’s also why he was scared Omni-man tried to kill him immediately upon teleporting to his location to stall him

Something to consider, Nolan is considered one of Viltrum's greatest warriors. He could have run the Guardians fade with no injuries in episode 1 but had to take a beating to make it believable that they were all attacked. He could have done the same to Mark but he was trying to make him understand and believe in what he was doing. Anissa had no reason to hold back as much. But take note she made sure that no humans were harmed in her education class. I like this version of her much better than the comic book version. Same thing with the Amber/Mark breakup. It's done much better in the show imho.

I think they did a good job this episode showing that Anissa does in fact have a sense of justice that's a bit different from other Viltrumites. Honestly, I'd probably be for Viltrumites taking over the planet. Enslavement is a point of view that is seen differently by everyone in the modern world. Literally people today consider how we live now as slavery given how garbage we're paid compared to how much time we have to work to live, how little access we have to healthcare and the like. Bro I get that she was outta pocket in that one episode on the campus last season but you have to understand that she isn't a person, she is a character, written with intention. They are trying to point out that just because two people have good intentions and want to make a relationship work, doesn't mean it should continue. They clearly regret how they wrote Amber towards the end of Season 1 and tried to course correct to get the actual messaging behind the character out in this episode, which is that some things transcend love or devotion. She isn't complaining, she's lamenting how sad the situation is. It's no one's fault that they shouldn't be together, they just shouldn't. If you can isolate your personal feelings about Amber for a second, that is a really sad and tragic kind of break-up, where both people still love each other and never even really got to give things a good try because of circumstances. And Amber repeatedly says that she knows she can't be selfish, she knows she can't ask Mark to stop, but that doesn't take away her feelings of loneliness. And the idea that someone is just expected to sit home and take that isn't realistic, and Mark sees through his mother how that can affect someone long term. I think this is why a lot of people can't survive a long-term long distance relationship. Anyways, that's just my thoughts on their relationship. It dragged a bit and it stumbled for sure, but I still like what they were going for.

It makes a lot more sense for a comic since that's a very small team or even one person making it, but for something that is such a huge draw to Amazon Prime, I don't love the excuse, especially after they fucked us with the unskippable ads without paying more each month.
