One thing I really like here is Yue being kinda a baddie. In the show she came and went and I didn't care at all for her much other than her noble sacrifice. I think the actress and the writing gave her a nice kick to her role as a priestess/princess and showing her water bending for food purposes was cool. I dont think she was a water bender in the cartoon was she? That or she was and never bothered saying or showing.

The fight only happened because Katara picked the fight plus its more so for Katara's confidence over Paku's tradition. So… instead of establishing the primary protagonist(s) properly and making us care about him/them with quality dialogue, consistent screen time together, and putting in real effort in maintaining their classic personalities (character flaws, quirks, driving forces, etc)…. They spent that time and effort on the initial antagonist turned (eventually) secondary deuteragonist, making him far more empathetic, reasonable, and likable in the meantime, and thus undercutting not only his amazing redemption arc (from a violent, tunnel visioned, deeply flawed teenager who had *some* miraculous good in him who had to fight hard over three season to turn into a better person), but also confusing newcomers as to who exactly they’re supposed to be cheering on (an argument can absolutely be made in the LA that Zuko has more agency and more morality than Aang). All this at the cost of severely undercutting the actual show’s protagonist and one of the best written female characters of the 21st century. Idk man.. I gotta disagree.

From a production perspective: This is def Zuko and Iroh's season, next is looking like more of the Gaang especially with the introduction of Toph. It's also the reason Sokka and Aang don't have a huge connection. But we need atleast 3-4 more episodes for something like Book 2 because Azula joins the fray.
