This might be my favorite video of yours. I think another interesting aspect of this subject is that these high fidelity games don't just require more processing power, they require more human effort to construct. I've never heard of defender of the crown but even today I'm finding it impressive because it still looks like a tremendous amount of effort went into it. I think games like it, crisis, and hellblade will always be impressive because they were willing to spend the effort in areas where other games won't. I think this somewhat fits with your question about why some games that push the envelope seem to sacrifice gameplay while others don't. Some games are more technical achievements in beauty while others are artistic achievements.
