THE JACOB GELLER READING LIST

Hi y'all. I'm very please to introduce a highly requested feature: an index and reading list of all the media I've talked about in my videos

The first part of this document is a listing of every game, book, and other piece of art that's been a focus of a video. Each of these is linked to the video in which it appears. If you've ever wondered "hey, what was the video where Jacob talked about Firewatch?," this is the tool for you.

The second part of the document is a series of reading lists, loosely separated by genre. Looking for a new book with distinctly Geller-y vibes? I hope this will help.

This is a living and evolving document: I will continue adding media to the list as new videos come out, and I may change up the formatting if the need strikes.

Just wanted to chime in and say thanks so much for keeping this reading list up to date! Checked in today 2025-01-27 as I'm setting up more books to get from the local library, and incredibly grateful to see that this list is still maintained (with books referenced in "Fear of Dark" linked).

Mr. L

I had no idea I'd be getting this when I subscribed but this feels targeted exactly at me and I didn't realize how much I needed it.

Michael

Just hopped onto ol' Patreon and found this. Very grateful you've put this together! Looking to read more this year :)

Wyatt Pitsaros

I had no idea how much I needed this, but I can't wait :)

Emerson Dillon

There's so much more to those hallways than they explored!!

ProfHoundstooth

I have nothing to add except that the way this document is structured makes my Brian VERY happy

pardonmylord

Awesome list! I started reading House of Leaves recently based on your Haunted House video. Boy oh boy did you gloss over it when you brought it up - there's SO much to that story beyond what's mentioned in the video. I'd love to hear you talk about it again some time. By the way, it would be super cool to update the list to have a brief description of each recommended book or even a brief bit of your thoughts about each entry πŸ‘€

MeltyMetroid

Thank you for this! Already had a great time with some of the books you referenced in past videos. I saw a book in the bookstore recently - 'Imagine a City by Mark Vanhoenacker. 'A Pilot's Journey Across the Urban World'. I don't know how the content is but that tagline reminded me of your video on Flight Simulator.

kpel

thats crazy that Raphael Bob Waksbergs book is on there cuz i know that guy personally

PikachuPinball

that's amazing!!

Thought you might like to know that I am designing a sizable chunk of a high school English course around some of your recommendations, including 17776 so we can talk about the evolution of literature and the experience of reading. Thanks so much for your hard work and inspiration

Kryshen

This is wonderful, thank you so much!

Jeeyon Shim

Your book recommendations have been phenomenal so far, so thank you very much. Btw, I just finished Infinite Jest, and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. Trying Gravity's Rainbow, but it feels too Burroughs for me. Any recommendations based on those two? Cheers!

Anthony Rojas

This is phenomenal. Thank you.

Wawro

Thank you so much for this thoughtful list! I appreciate the 'if you're looking for...' reading suggestions at the bottom! As someone who gets tired while reading, having a list of short stories is super exciting.

ValkyrieOfLore

will definitely be checking out some of the theory, the one on urban development kicks ass so far

Deryk Marks

I don't really read much at all, but your description of 'the city and the city' in the video about Disco Elysium hooked me. Just finished it, and I really enjoyed it!

C_N

This is absolutely deluxe brah

Set

Excitedly adding β€˜cold desolate spaces’ to the ever expanding list of types of space you’ve discussed

Joe Murray

heeeeell yeeeees you absolutely didnt have to put so much effort in this, but you made it perfect.

dnys

A very thoughtful contribution to the Gellar discourse. I particularly appreciate the time you took to organize them by genre. My partner and I frequently joke about things that strike us as "Gellarian" and absolutely love your videos. ❀

Jeanette Long

Hey I just finished Firewatch earlier this week and was wondering if there was a video where Geller talked about Firewatch. I thought he did but couldn't remember which. Great timing I must say.

Grey Fox

Teasing a new video through a reading list? A real Gellerian move right there. I love it!

Daniel Peacock

This is great, thank you! I started reading Macfarlane's Underland thanks to your video and it's already going to be one of my favorite books, so I'm looking forward to more recommendations from you.

mag

Oh how i needed this

choopy

I actually have been really curious about reading recommendations from you recently so this is perfect!

Hummeldon

You have no idea how many times I’ve searched β€œJacob Geller BLAME!” on YouTube to try to find your NaissancE video. Thanks :3

Marley Weber

This also has some inclusions from the video that's releasing later this week, so have fun with that πŸ˜‡
