I think the line that emphasizes that Gene was apologizing for his own convenience instead of true remorse is when he said "let me finish" but I do think Gene will self reflect after this experience and truly apologize and maybe set up a new relationship since it looks like hes staying around and not on a hit

I was trying my best to explain it to non-gun people using the most basic language I can. Also most guns are for self defense and for carry some have safety mechanisms you have to touch, some have it on the grip, and other on the trigger.

I kinda think the Gene apologizing situation was also supposed to parallel how Barry was trying (and essentially failing) to apologize to Gene as well. While obviously, the gravity of what Barry did to Gene can’t compare to what Gene did to his ex, he still RUINED HER CAREER. And Gene, on a mission to finally move on with his life in a positive way, got shut down by someone who was really fucked over by him. I think the scene kinda allowed Gene to relate to what Barry was also trying to do with him: selfishly atone for his actions in order to better himself and move on with his life -- but not understanding the gravity of his actions (Gene forgetting all the shit he did) and that he can probably never be forgiven by the person he wronged.

I just genuinely think it had /zero/ influence on her decision), because literally up until her costar pointed out how awful he was, Sally was genuinely just excited and ready to tell Barry everything. She even tried to defend him after the fact, but I think you can really pinpoint the moment she realized how serious it was, and just how much she was falling into old habits. Having your costar that's playing the abused child to a fictional version of your abused self, on a show about learning to recognize abusive relationships, while simultaneously missing the red flags in your real life one again now cant be a good feeling,, and the way I saw it it seemed like the show was making that the sole reason that she ended things. Very much a recognizing a bad thing and getting out before it gets worse moment, I think. + agree with a lot of the points being made in the comments about Gene - I don't think their age is really correlated to his remembrance of these things so much as it is his utter disregard for all the people around him and the ways he treated them before. He doesn't remember any of the awful things he did because it seems it was literally just the norm for him,, Also totally agree with the points of Barry being like,,undefendable now, and Lupa mentioning how he just legitimately doesn't like him anymore ajdcjjd. I feel the same about him killing Janet being a real turning point for his character, and was actually kinda sad to realize that I just genuinely stopped liking the guy at all down the line. Tbh by the end of the show I was kind of just actively rooting for his downfall,,but I don't think that's necessarily out of the range of what the show wants you to feel either, lol

2024-02-23 07:46:51 +0000 UTCwe will see but to the lady's point and to sheera's: before, gene didnt give a fuck. he didnt care that he insulted or assaulted these people, they were beneath him. he NOW feels guilt and remorse so he is apologizing to assuage his guilt. he hasnt done all the work that it requires to truly be a different person. this is all very new to him. saying im sorry and admitting the things you did is the bare minimum, its not making amends and its up to the victim to say rather or not if its enough. so he's not yet a changed man BUT he does WANT to be a better person. he just needs to see how he really has messed up these people's lives and i think the storyline with his ex is going to help do that.

Some of the secondary characters seem pretty pleasant, like Sally's assistant and agent, but the main cast outside of maybe NoHo Hank (if he's considered main) are all cooked. Sally, Gene, and Barry all deserve each other, though Barry is obviously dialed up to a 9/10 on the psycho meter this season and the others are just kind of typical LA narcissists. I agree w Roshi that a lot of Gene's apologizing is him appeasing his own ego. It makes him look like the reformed villain acknowledging his misdeeds when really all he's doing is saying some words and making hand gestures.

They dropped a few crumbs throughout the episode that Gene's apologies were more for selfish reasons. If you look back, he was kind of stealing the spotlight at the dinner table with his speeches and seemed to make it more about him than the victims of his past behavior, which is very in-character for him based on what we know of him. A great thing about this show is that everyone is flawed, there are no all-good people or all-bad people.

I also heard that Netflix is planning to bring the first 3 seasons to it's platform, and if it does well, and is well reviewed and watched, they may pick it up for a S4. So all we can do is hope🤞. Cause Warrior, is a huge miss if it's not picked up for a S4, that show has so much potential. Honestly one of my favs despite only having 3 seasons.
