2024-02-23 00:41:55 +0000 UTCIt’s very unbalanced. It does SO MUCH RIGHT, that what it does bad really stands out, and it’s unfortunate that most flaws stem from the big two - writing and directing. All other departments seem to be firing on all cylinders and it can’t be stated enough how impressive it all is. But the writing and direction (and some of the acting) is really inexperienced and immature, and brings the rest down. My honest thoughts. 🤷🏽♂️

2024-02-23 00:40:48 +0000 UTCGenuinely surprised people like The Last Airbender here. There is a lot to like, sure, but far more to criticize in my opinion. The writing and directing really, really let down an incredible team of production designers, set designers, costume and wardrobe and makeup artists, stunt choreographers and performers, and an undoubtedly overworked visual effects team. No one wanted a 1:1 adaptation, but what they did was constantly shoot their left foot with superfluous changes that weakened their own themes and the characters themselves. The clunky exposition, shit dialogue, and wooden acting (from everyone but perhaps Sokka, Azula, and Iroh) didn’t help, but they could have been overlooked if the writing and directing had simply been better. This show really had potential and I wanted to like it so badly. 5.5/10 show. Can’t wait for that Pluto though!

But honestly I'd give it a 6.5 or 7 out of 10. It did well enough as it could have but lets see if they take any of the people's criticism for the next season if it's confirmed. I still liked it though it still had me hype for a lot of parts.
