I agree with you. I'm definitely enjoying it but Jinwoo is the one part of the show that isn't really hitting for me. Typically 7 episodes in I'd have formed at least some attachment to the MC but I don't really care about him. It feels like getting stronger is his only real desire and his mom (and sister) is more of an after thought put into the story to try and get the audience to care what happens to him. And same as you as a result of having him hyped up for so long it makes him very underwhelming as a protagonist to me. But now knowing that his personality is going to remain pretty one note I think it'll help me enjoy the series more than I already am because I won't be sitting here with the expectation of more from him and being disappointed when it doesn't happen.

Theyve changed a couple of things, he didnt struggle as much with the cerberus in the manhwa as well as rashakas venom being used in the fight where in the manhwa he drank it in his home to test if it would detoxify the debuffs.

If he had more ststs to make him smarter he would be able to min max. If you can learn magic the do it so far he has barely made it alive in every fight even with the humans he took damage he didn't need to. He still has that weak mindset, if the system wants him to get stronger abuse it force it to give you exp for everything you do. Also, If he had invested some points into INT he might have remembered that the system came with a shop sooner rather than later. Not only would he have had time to thoroughly browse it, but he might have had some potions and stat buffing items ready before entering the dungeon.

Think of it like this, the same way Jin-Ho is a D rank but has equipment ranked higher than him is the same that Jin-Woo has all these abilities and weapons from the system. I used to love the show but after that let down that was the last season I don't even want them to experience that. It was entertaining watching the show as it came out but if you watch from summerhouse to the final season back to back you'll realise that all of the build up from previous seasons either get rushed to start the next plot point or doesn't get addressed at all.

Yeah I agree with your point. Just finished the whole thing a couple weeks ago and without spoilers I can tell you the story doesn't go super deep like AOT or other stuff. It's just a simple and short story of him getting stronger, and that's it. That's like a common problem with K-comics, the plot isn't too deep like some Chinese novels I read. I'm not saying this is a problem but you know, not all stories need to go super deep. I like that they tend to keep it that way so we can just simply enjoy the fights, and graphics (amazing panel arts in manga, amazing animation in the adaptation).

His personality is pretty damn basic, I think most people like him because he's cool/hot and not for his personality. The main reason, as far as I know, that I and many others enjoyed the manwha was for the really cool sweeping shots of scenes, the really well-drawn action scenes, and the overall setting with the gates and whatnot. In the end, Jinwoo was kinda just a "feel bad for me" character that got a glow-up, and I think that he's just very much a self-insert power fantasy type character. So, if you like pretty cool action scenes(+Sawano) then I'd say keep watching, but if you're more into character dramas or people with personality, this probably isn't the show sadly

The animation was absolutely wild for that fight! I’m really enjoying watching these with the group every week, and I give huge props to the voice actors, animators, and Sawano (the GOAT composer) for doing their damn thing every epiaode. Having said that… deep breath I’m genuinely curious if Jinwoo gets any more likable or charismatic as a protagonist? I know he’s apparently beloved by everyone breathing right now, but part of me feels that’s just a meme at this point… right? As I said, I’m honestly enjoying the series so far and I mean no disrespect to the fandom… but he’s arguably the weakest link for me. Everything from his design to his thoughts and actions just come across as simple, somewhat edgy, gratuitous wish fulfillment; the type seen in many other run of the mill isekai and k-dramas (not that this is either of those things). The only aspect of that boring stereotype lacking - quite thankfully - is the makings of a harem lol. I understand that whole archetype can be really appealing to young men and especially teenagers (the target demographic of most manga and manwha) looking for escapism. Hell, I indulge in that stuff from time to time myself, but the problem is this series was so hyped up for me and for such a long time (I held off reading because I wanted to see it animated) that I can’t help but be… underwhelmed by the actual protagonist and story early on? Sure, Jinwoo questioning how easily he killed those guys was nice, but it was also expected on the most elementary level of storytelling. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Before anyone says anything about it only being seven episodes in, I have to say a lot can be shown, teased, and established in seven episodes. I’m not saying I hate Jinwoo or he annoys me, etc! I know fans like to exaggerate and twist words. I’m just saying I don’t feel any connection to him, nor any real desire to see him succeed and save his mom other than on the most basic human level. He’s just, as Australians say, rather “up himself”, a bit one note, and a bit of an idiot. If any manwha/LN readers can light-spoil me on what to expect, I’d appreciate it! I’d rather know what to expect / focus on / appreciate going forward and not keep holding out for something that the creator perhaps never intended. Sometimes shows can just be fun and simple, with cool world building and sick battles. Cuz I’m definitely game if that’s all this is!

I love this episode since it shows how how weak Jin-Woo is, bro had to use 3 health potions, a full recovery, 70% damage reduction (in total), blade effects etc just to barely survive. Really shows how strong S rank hunters are since they don’t have advantage of the system. Even last episode he only beat the spider due to his full recovery, based on these 2 episodes it’s safe to say he’s mid/high C-rank and at most VERY low B.

I think it’s interesting that they tackled the idea of his mental changing from when he was weak to now when he’s strong and is absolutely being subjected to having to WANT to grow stronger. a few people i noticed called bs on him surviving at the end with such little hp but you got to remember he had 70% damage reduction and the boss lost its double stats and one hit from double the stats took a third of his HP and that was with no damage reduction skills active. so jin would be taking a small amount of damage at the end of the fight. maybe around 5 damage per second or something idk

Asking the people in the comments that have read the manhwa, it sort of bothers me they way they are animating things both out of order and introducing people and items really early to me it just seems like its confusing for new people and it's good that they are putting emphasis on his struggles and him losing his emotions. But I feel like Later in the story people are going to be confused. What do you all think.
