Thought you ladies and gents might be interested to see some in-progress art for the "sitting room" we'll see quite a bit of for the next week or so. :)

TWB, Monday May 6th:

For some reason I can't update the page. The scheduler updated it as expected, but it still shows last Friday's strip. I tried manually editing the 'Index' page, and uploaded it three or four times- and it still shows Friday's strip.

I think we had something like this happen before, and I'd gone over my allowed server space- I thought that had been greatly increased, but just in case, I offloaded a bunch of unneeded artwork and photos. Still can't upload it. That is, I can upload it 'ti...

Apologies for the delay, it's been a hectic couple of weeks. But hey, we'll make it through this. :)

Comic is up!

Apologies for the late posting, but Tuesday's comic is finally up. I'm way behind on, well, pretty much everything, and couldn't even start on the comic 'til about an hour after it was supposed to update.

And, of course, when I finally had it done, just after midnight, my internet connection had stopped connecting. It's done that before, and usually late at night, so I assume it's some sort of quick update or repair kind of thing, and...

Jinxy!

Sorry about missing the 'Painting' updates, ladies and gents, but I've had about half a dozen fairly hard deadlines descend on me in the last couple of weeks. I can't say I'm wearing myself to a frazzle, because only a frazzle would seem like a nice break at this point. :)

Hopefully I can have the flames beat back to merely a dull roar by next weekend, but in the meantime, thanks for your patience, and here's a book sketch of Jinx to tide you over. :)

The Painting, Part 6

Time is in short supply this weekend- hopefully I'll have time to add the color and backgrounds by the time it gets posted on the main page. :)

[Edit] It's an art-nerd joke. :)

The Painting, Part 5:

The latest installment! For those of you just tuning in, this is an early look at an upcoming TWB storyline- we haven't had any cheesecake or beefcake in a while, and this was a little idea I'd had in mind since Cara was introduced. :)

I don't know how long it'll end up, but I'm shooting for 1-2 strips each weekend. Thanks for following along!

Told ya there was a lot of detail. :) And I haven't even finished shading yet. When it goes live on the main page, it'll get even more detail. :)

Quick Update:

Still have not been able to contact the local guy, and TopatoCo still hasn't gotten back to me.

Haven't had a lot of time to chase down other options, but I have noted some of your suggestions for alternate sources.

That said, I've also started revisiting my own setup, and checking to see what I'd need to finally activate that. (Last I recall, all I really needed was the equipment to apply, cure and wash out the emulsion on the screens. But at this point, the older inks I bought [...

The Painting, Part 1

Had a conversation the other day, with the author of another comic. I was reminded of an idea I had for a short storyline, and I decided I'd make it up as a Patreon special. No, not that kind of special, this will eventually appear in the public strip, although maybe not for a while- we'll have to get through at least one other storyline before that happens. :)

There will be cheesecake, though. :)

Updates, as usual, will be as time permits, but I'm going ...

Shirtz update:

Quick update, ladies and gents, and that is that we're temporarily stalled.

I  have been unable to recontact the aforementioned local guy. It's not a  case of him 'ghosting' me or anything- I thought I had his number from  several years ago, but I can't find it. A message left through the one  other point of contact has not yet produced a connection.

Nothing  nefarious, it's just modern communications SNAFU- he's an older gent  and has no 'web presenc...

Art samples

I poked through my old archives for some of the old pics- last time we had a shirt run was '10- and selected a sample I think might have some interest. Above is my gearhead shop apron. This I may have a batch done out of pocket, since it's one-size-fits-all, and just have these in the store as a regular item. Next...

The possibility of a T-shirt?

Those of you that have been around for a while- a good long while - may remember that I used to produce some T-shirts. They were, for a time, very popular, and I had what I thought were some fun designs.

The system worked like this: I'd open up preordering for about two weeks, and the customer would buy whichever and however many of whatever size he, she or they needed. After those two weeks, I'd close ordering, tally up the orders, and have a local guy print them. Rather than having to...

PodKitty in Color!

Not bad for a quick sketch with a little cleanup.

Podgirl Progress

Had a bit of downtime this evening, so after blowing up Great-Grandpa's mansion, I tinkered with that Pirta sketch a bit. :)

Redrew the pod and paint completely, using the line and shape tools, and "cut and stretched" Pirta a bit here and there to improve the proportions over my rough sketch. My old software doesn't have an easy vector style resize, but since I basically clean up all the lines after a sketch anyway, I just 'lasso' a part of the drawing and move it about. You can see the...

Sketchy Happenings, Part 1

The first of hopefully many of your suggestions: Doc with a tuba made into a paintball gun, Jinx trying to use a Panzershrek, and bomber nose art of Pirta!

That latter one I may need to clean up and color. :)

{First edit} Added Jinx and Robin enjoying a Rootbeer Float. As kids these days tend to do. :)

More on the way, as I can squeeze it in!

Request-A-Sketch!

Just like the title says, folks! I've been WAY too busy in the shop, and Jack has indeed become a dull boy. I'm having a lot of fun with this current storyline, and I hope you are too, but I haven't done diddly by way of 'just for the fun of it' art in altogether too many months.

So gimme some ideas. A gag, a setting, somebody in some improbable situation, just a pin-up, you name it.

Can't promise I'll draw 'em all, but I'll sure do what I can!

Fair Warning, again...

Just a heads-up, Ladies and Gents, and anyone in between. :) I'm in the middle of a fairly hot streak, in-the-shop-wise, and it's just going to get worse this coming week. It'd not really a "do or die" kind of thing, it's just that I have a lot of work piled up on the tables- mine and customers- and many deadlines, real and imagined, are looming fast.

I had been as much as four days ahead on the comic, but that's now down to one. I shouldn't have to use any filler- this is a bad time in...

Yes, the comic is borked...

Sorry ladies and gents, there's some semi-serious glitch going on  with the comic. I can not upload the comic. I had to band-aid it  by posting the comic to docsmachine.com and editing the TWB image link  to match. And yes, Wednesday's page is missing.

Thing is, I can't fix it.

Wednesday's  page, autotwb3916.html, is there, but can't be opened. I've tried  reloading it, deleting and reloading it, editing ...

Turning a Splatmaster Speedwheel!

That's right, we here at Doc's Machine are on the very cutting edge... of forty-year-old paintball technology. :)

The Splatmaster was the first gun made specifically for the sport of paintball... in 1984. :)

The one and damn near only hot trick for them back in the day was a CO2 cartridge plug with a larger knob, to make changing them faster and easier.

I've been making them in low numbers for years, and had an order for a small handful, so I whipped up a video of the proces...

The TWB Bookstore!

Well, it's TWB, and books, but the "store" part needs a little work. :)

The Complete Collection of TWB Books!

At the moment it's really just a listing of the books- something I've never really had all in once place, before- but there's some basic instructions if you'd like to order some. Everything, it's worth noting, is in stock, so if any of you want to round out your collection, or just help a d...

Technicolor Scraps

As I was digging through my files to make sure I had everything backed up before anything here got deleted, I ran across this old "Scraps" comic.

I think I might have posted it back then as a temporary filler strip on the main page, but I'd imagine not many of you have seen it.

Enjoy!

It's been a while...

Here's a slightly-early Black Friday offer for all of you!

After an almost two-year hiatus, the next two books, #23 and #24, are finally  complete! These cover the three-man tournament, with Sandy, Tawny and Pirta's team up against Rainy, Victor and Simon's- and Packrat's shenanigans in the background.

These are the second and third-thickest TWB books (after book #4) and each one has a couple extra strips not found in the archives. :)

These are $29.95 for the pair, and ...
