In the light novel and manga, at this point you don’t know that Sylphi is Fitz. In the LN they even make it a mystery to the point that when they slowly start dropping chapters that reveal that Slyphie is in the magic academy, she herself refers to Silent Fitz as if it was a separate person. After the reveal, you can go back to the chapters and read the comments as Sylphie speaking about her persona, Silent Fitz.

To explain the "Miss Silent" part: Miss Silent and Silent Fitz are two different people. The reason this is so confusing for many people, including me when I first read the light novel, is because in the original Japanese, Sylphie's alias was 無言のフィッツ (Mugon no Fittsu) which means "Fitz of Silence," or better, "Silent Fitz." In contrast, Miss Silent's name is the English word 'Silent' even in the original Japanese light novel (Except it's spelled with katakana). This makes it a very awkward translational artifact where two characters have distinct names in the Japanese, but remarkably similar names in the English, and no really good way to fix it.

I think some of the subtext from the duel scene got a little lost in the adaptation, but originally they embellished quite a bit more on the gap between rudeus’ practical application of battle magic and the hogwarts classroom kid magic they got going on with most students at ranoa. Its as if you had a kid who’s the best in his PE class at basketball go and ball up against a guy who’s been playing pickup in a few parks with grown ass adults everyday for the last 5 years. They seemed to condense the point down to rudy mentioning that sylphie’s hand are soft like they've never held a weapon as if to say she hasnt had to fight to live before and it shows.

The character of Silent Fitz is irreparably tied to the princess now, and if word gets out that it was a false persona, or the princess was coercing a teleported mage as a basically indentured servant/slave and keeping them from returning home; it could hurt the princess’s reputation. While we know that it is not the truth and that Rudeus is trustworthy, the princess does so I assume the secret will be kept until the princess learns to either trust Rudy’s or Sylphie goes against them.

Sylphy's full fake name is Silent Fitz but everyone calls her Fitz and everyone things Sylphy is a guy. When characters just say Silent or Miss Silent there are refering to another person. You better read this or you can just keep being confused and find out later :)
