Matter manipulation is broken and writers have to be extra careful when giving it to a character otherwise them not easily solving every problem comes off as cis/pis. Whats stopping Eve from making the clothes of every villain she faces weigh hundreds of tons so they either can't move or are severly restricted? I mean she turned those guys ski maks to steel in this very episode. Why wouldn't she open with that against every villain from kow on? Why... because plot. I really love how conflicted they show OmniMan being here. It really confirms for me that he had grown to love Mark and Debbie, and not just as pets. I think if Mark had never gotten powers, they would have continued being a happy family and OmniMan wouldn’t have tried to conquer Earth, at least within their lifetime. I think that, after at first being angry that little kid Mark didn’t have powers, he had truly taken to heart Debbie’s sentiments about loving each other for just doing their best, but as soon as Mark’s powers showed it was like, “Oh shit, now I’ve got to do what I’m supposed to do for Viltrum. This is my job, this is what I have to do, this is what he has to do for the good of our species.” If you watch his facial expressions in scenes like the end of this one, you do see him conflicted about it. It’s like he’s having to convince himself that he wants the mission to succeed, that he doesn’t actually give a shit about Debbie and Mark.

I saw another YT video that mentioned this gives us context as for why she makes certain decisions later on, but not necessarily in S2. Also just a reminder, Nolan did love Mark and Debbie. It's just that everything he learned on Earth is in opposition to his hundreds of years as an unempathetic warmonger. Earth was supposed to be the mission, but he got caught up having a kid and a wife, that he thought would die in a few decades anyways. After which he would just turn up on everybody, but that changed when Mark got his powers and would eventually live to see the Viltrum invasion. Which was coming regardless if Mark got his powers or not. Mark had to be with it or he would get clapped, if he couldn't stand up to his father than he had no chance against the Viltrumites coming. So I understand, why he fucked up Mark and why he said what he said about Debbie. Granted not really a justification. Nolan is akin to Vegeta if the Saiyans survived and was actively fucking things up.
