Not because I think it's a big one, just because it's not for us to decide what's important to avoid spoiling or not for others. There was also a lot of subtle details from the source that was not adapted. Although paul 2.0 was right on thinking that Rudeus is putting on a persona which is why he hates Rudeus, what he got wrong is why Rudeus is putting on this persona. Rudeus misunderstood Eris left him because his performance in bed is lacking and so his confidence as a man took a hit. He ends up getting depressed and heartbroken thinking he is a worthless piece of crap that's why he tries to create this happy go lucky persona to cope for that when interacting with other people adding to the fact that he is all alone now. [which are not adapted. they only adapted him going with Sara's party] A lot of people didnt really understood this arc and hated it because it felt boring for them so its probably why they decided to just speed run it.

Anyways I personally like Eris even if she had a rough start and continues to be a little rough around the edges. I personally grew up around a lot of tomboy type girls who were rough around the edges and still continue to be at some points. Just because a person may think that is bad or a negative doesn't mean its terrible taste to someone else. A lot can be changed from different habitats and perspectives. What you truly don't want to get is a girl who doesn't change and is more toxic than anything else she has to offer. Eris is more tomboy like as I have mentioned already with a lot of the girls I have encountered. Most of them know when to be proper and understanding even if they have trouble with it. Nothing wrong with the other girls that act proper and basic and nice all the time but I find that the ones I have talked about in this comment are more flawed and emotionally put up a wall and act rough but are very understanding when necessary. This isn't just to group them up either cause every girl is different but I hope you get what I mean.

There's the bar scene, then a POV of Sara to interrupt, then the next chapter starts up saying a few months went by and immediately gets back into the way that the anime did it. So it might be a little weird to do it the way the anime did it, but only because the anime doesn't give exposition that it feels is unnecessary.

It may not have been what she meant at the time, but in retrospect Rudy has come to understand what she said as she was only being with him to pay back a debt. In other words, Rudy now believes that people are only willing to put up with him through commitments, and that no one will ever love him. He had low self esteem to begin with, but all this has culminated into him feeling beyond worthless -- hopeless.

Of course Eris was his first genuine connection (probably ever as we know what his past life was like) and he was with her for the majority of his new life. But it's still that trauma from his past life. If things go wrong for you that bad that many times and again in your new life after everything that's happened, you're gonna think "well, there is no hope for me whatsoever" (if you are depressed, which Rudeus clearly is). Did not expect such dark tones from Mushoku Tensei when I first started it but for me at least, it's handled in a very accurate way.

It makes sense since he’s literally been with Eris longer than he’s been with his own family in this world and really the first person he loved. It’s more tragic because it’s all because of a misunderstanding, Eris left for Rudeus, but he doesn’t know that and Eris doesn’t know how much it effected him.

To some it may have seemed like a very impulsive decision and it honestly may be so, but I think that it just shows how close Rudy has been to snapping this entire time. This entire time Rudy’s just been putting on a front and holding a “smile” just for everybody else and Soldat even mentioned that. But when Sara left, that was really the final push for Rudy that sent him over the edge. In my opinion him trying to kill himself as fast as they made it look in this episode was a lot more effective then if they were to draw it out like making him slowly reach for the knife in slow motion and slowly point it towards himself. Here it better shows him snapping.

Maybe she thought he was just taking advantage of her feelings (which is probably why she said something like "This is the worst" before leaving). Sara said that she only went to bed with him to pay back her debt to him for saving her life; she told that lie in an attempt to save her pride and feel less embarrassed, but all it ended up doing was hurting Rudy more than she realized. It's less about him being scared of women, but about being afraid to be emotionally vulnerable around them. Sure, he may be "ready" to take things to the bedroom, but his emotions need more time to come out. The last time he allowed himself to be vulnerable (both in bed and with his emotions) was with Eris and she left him without properly explaining why. Eris left in order to get stronger and to feel worthy to stand alongside Rudy instead of following behind him, but Rudy thinks she left because she hated him (or that he did something wrong and made her hate him). In his moment of self-pity and weakness, he began to "cheer" himself up by saying he didn't need Sara's approval, saying she wasn't his type anyway, etc. but he was BS'ing out loud to himself. Sure, what he was saying about her was mean, but Sara had no idea what Rudy was actually going through. Sara hearing him, slapping him, and basically cementing her hatred of him all because Rudy was BS'ing made him feel like there was no hope for him, that no woman would ever give him enough patience or trust to hear him out, let alone see that Rudy is deeply traumatized and hurt (not only from Eris but his past life). I think his attempt to unalive himself was a real showing of how on-the-edge Rudy has been mentally ever since Eris left him. Sure, we knew he wasn't doing well, but that scene really solidified that Rudy is just one bad experience from his entire sense of self-worth crumbling. Ever since Eris left, he feels like he's been "betrayed" over and over every time he opens up to someone, and despite him opening himself up, no one (like Eris and Sara) ever seems to take the time to listen to his side or care about his feelings.
