Muzan also explains that the demons are a means to an end to find someone who can withstand the sun. The previous seasons were a believable amount of shounen energy except the ending of season 2 they all should have died there but maybe they could have survived. This season though confirms tanjiro can use any power he wants just by thinking about it and nezuko gets demon powers without the consequences. I'm good bro story is now ultra predictable a bunch of hashiras will die against muzan after the hashiras demolish a bunch of the leftover upper moon easily and then tanjiro will pull his power of friendship and magic out and kill muzan. From the way this show is heading that's exactly what's going to happen

Tanjiro has trained with zenitsu for a while and when he needed speed in this instance he just recalled how to get a buff. the situation is also different because that panic attack, seeing this demon stil running away, how his sister was literally cooking in his arms, and how mentally exhausted he was definitely impaired brain activiity.

I've also seen comments saying that Hantengu really was a victim. That's what I thought at first, and I think it's what we were supposed to believe up until now. We saw a tiny piece of his flashback last episode, which he responded to by saying he's never told a lie in his life. With no other context, that scene made me think Hantengu really was an innocent victim that was framed for a crime, or maybe he was misunderstood and wronged by the world. I no longer think that's the case. After watching this episode, I'm convinced that he was a professional liar and self-proclaimed victim. He's lied so many times that he might actually believe his own bullshit, but I have my doubts. I think he's just a coward that tried to get out of situations by asking for pity. Based on the flashback scenes we were shown, he only calls himself a "victim" after making bad choices and being confronted with the consequences. He reminds me of people who say shit online that comes back to bite them later on, like being fired from a job or "canceled" by a mob. They try to defend themselves by arguing that free speech allows them to say anything they want, but actions have consequences. Hantengu stole from a good Samaritan that showed kindness to blind people. The guy was willing to look the other way when Hantengu committed theft, but when a third party planned to report the crime, Hantengu tried to get sympathy by blaming his hands for the crime. That didn't work, so he killed the guy. When the magistrate charges Hantengu with theft and murder, Hantengu tries to get sympathy by saying a blind person couldn't possibly commit such crimes. Then we learn the blindness was a lie, too. He seemed so shocked when the magistrate called him out for faking blindness, but after the shock had passed, Hantengu then tried to get sympathy by blaming his hands again. He lost his hands AND received the death penalty, instead of just the death penalty. Hantengu kills and eats humans, but when confronted by Tanjiro, he defended himself by arguing that Tanjiro doesn't even know the people. If Tanjiro had responded with something like, "You literally ate my friends," I'm guessing Hantengu would just make another excuse. "But were they close friends or just acquaintances?" Hantengu was an utterly shameless individual who wanted to be enabled instead of punished for making bad choices. As Sheera pointed out, this is the first time we've seen a flashback for a demon with (seemingly) no redeeming qualities. Aside from the shock value of, "Surprise! This guy was a piece of shit as a demon AND as a human," I see no value in including the flashbacks we saw if Hantengu was, in fact, an actual victim.

Hence, the blue spider lily being in the flashback memory of episode 19 in Tanjiro's Memories.

Doesn't try to do too much, and even with the ass pulls, the story is better served by NOT trying to pull explanations out of thin air as well. I believe the story actually picks up quite a bit from here on, so here's to hoping this anime isn't remembered as simply "Animation Slayer" when it's all over 😀 🙏

It was working and that’s why he didn’t have the urge to eat humans and could go in daylight. The demon illness was still wrecking Muzan’s body so that’s why he was angry. After killing the doc, the reason why Muzan was so mad because he could’ve used that medicine or an altered version of it to able to go in the daylight and maybe be able to have a human life or wreck shit during the day. As to why Muzan turned into a demon, I think it is a simple as random genetic mutation. Though there is very obvious magic in the series, there also a lot of science and talk of genetics and DNA, so like my theory that Nezuko has a mutation to be able to go in sunlight that was activated once exposed to it, Muzan as human had a genetic mutation that turned him into a demon. Manga readers if there are parts of this theory that are correct or on the right path don’t confirm or deny anything unless there is evidence in already adapted material.

Either way, he is a sun breather, all the breathing styles originate from it so it wouldnt be impossible for him to do thunder breathing. Also I personally believe Nezuko surviving against the sun has to do with both her being from the same sun breathing clan AND her conviction. Also Muzan had a disease that was going to kill him at age 20. I know there are people that exist out there that still love the world even doe they are sick, well Muzan isnt one. Muzan hated everyone, the world even because he was sick his entire life. Basically jealous that everyone else besides him could enjoy life normally with no disease. About the doctor…that doctor was a sketchy doctor that is what they were trying to show. The doctor was most likely looking into immortality and used Muzan as a test subject since he was going to die anyway. I believe the doctor could have healed him whenever he wanted but was being an asshole and used Muzan as a test rat to test out his different potential immortality medicines to see if any would work, what best way to know if it worked than someone who is nearly going to die not dying? I do also think that yes maybe if he had completed the medicine Muzan would have still become an immortal being who needs flesh to survive, BUT he woulda been able to survive out in the sun. Muzan would have never created other demons, he would have probably just bought some dead bodies to eat seeing as he seems to be from a pretty rich lineage.

That’s the entire basis of what Muzan was trying to do by turning humans into demons. Hit the jackpot and find someone who causes the infection to mutate in just the right way. And Kamado blood is Muzan’s jackpot. Although, I don’t think I needed to explain this. Anyone who halfway paid attention in high school biology class could figure this out with five minutes of thought. Louisiana’s school system is one of the worst of the United States, so if I my education could tell me that, I’m certain you figured it out already.

The most likely explanation is the Kamado’s history with sun breathing. Three hundred years of generational practice might have had an impact on a deeper level. Of course, it could’ve also been something in her diet at some point.

I like to think that Nezuko’s resistance is what granted her the ability to walk in daylight cause when you think about it she’s only gotten stronger and never consumed human blood. it’s kind of symbolic too now that I think about what Tamayo said. when nezuko “died” she was protecting her sibling (she had him cradled in her arms ) and when she turned she only wanted to protect Tanjiro or “her siblings” if you remember the hypnosis. Then let’s go back to when their mom told nezuko to protect tanjiro or he’ll die, when they were fighting that spider clan in season 1, I like to think their deceased family is guiding nezuko too and helped her evolve. Now none of this was confirmed in the manga lol I think they just left it to our imagination, I don’t remember🤷🏾♀️ But there’s some pretty interesting theories out there. I’m so sad it’s over 😭 This was my favorite arc to read and the next one is even more entertaining.

Definitely making some assumptions there but, if upper one ends up being one of those ancestors, it seems more likely that Nezukos resistance is completely unique to her for some reason. I hope they explain it in the next season, I'm so excited.

2023-06-19 21:38:37 +0000 UTCsomething crazy i noticed after this season is that the demon slayers from tanjiro class that took the test are all proficient in one of the five senses. tanjiro smell, zenitsu hearing, inosuke touch (from the first season when he touched the ground and knew were everyone was) and genya taste cuz he has to eat demons to gain their powers. so I'm guessing tanjiro love interest from butterfly estate is sight but they haven't shown her do anything yet

I would say this season was better animated then last season excluding the last fight in season 2 I would still say best final fight was Tengen and gyutaro but aside from that the rest of last arc was a lot of downtime I do agree this season had a couple pacing issues but overall solid

Sheera, i think the reason nezuko did not eat people is becuz they established that she can survive by sleeping. I dont think muzan or other demons have that options, they need to eat, unless i missed something

It is extremely average, the narrative and developmental structure are quite awful and it does not do much to try and do anything fresh. The characters and their motivations are all presented in very shallow and repetitive ways. Their differences are superficial, without their flashy designs there is nothing to distinguish between them. This universe is very lucky that ufotable are the ones to adapt it or else no one would remember or care. But they did, which is why this show deserves some praise because it is definitely very pretty.

If Tanjiro can do Water breathing and also Hinokami, he should be able to also at the very least mimic the style of some other breathing. However it'll not be the real deal (obviously). I mean that it's not firebenders and waterbenders. In the very beginning, those breathing technique all derived from a single style, and cultivated their own style that fit them the best (Insect breathing, love breathing, mist breathing, and more), so it wouldn't be surprising if Tanjiro could learn at least how to execute a thunder breathing technique (but not actually use the thunder)

Also, Ufotable uses Unreal Engine to render a lot of these scenes. It's one of the reasons that they have such a unique style compared to other anime, they use real time rendering(think of video games, they are real time) and balance out 3D with 2D. So that sky you saw, was rendered with Unreal Engine.

2023-06-19 20:59:03 +0000 UTCI don’t think he literally had multiple personalities, I think the emotion demons were just the manifestation of the fact that in his human life he NEVER took responsibility for his actions, he always blamed other ppl or used lamed excuses like he couldn’t stop his own hands, hence when he became a demon his power manifested a way for him to continue to shunt his responsibility onto “others.” I think an important theme this season, and why neither upper rank demon got a sad (in the sense that we feel sorry for them) backstory this time, is that some people are legitimately just bad people who hurt ppl without remorse and without taking responsibility, including Muzan, who blames everyone else for his own failures. He’s the one who killed the doctor and ultimately screwed himself. So I think it was an important theme to introduce in order to set-up the confrontation with Muzan.

2023-06-19 20:51:35 +0000 UTCThis season was really disappointing man, I never had high expectations of the writing for this show to begin with and it has always been this show's weakest point by far but this season really hammered home all of the issues that this story has. Somehow, they've managed to make something that both felt too long and not long enough. I guess these feelings are just made worse when Vinland Saga is airing at the same time so you can see such a huge difference in quality. However, I am still excited to see ufotable animate the final arc because the audiovisuals are essentially the only good things about this show.

Like I understand due to power cliff, stronger hashira, and especially the introduction to the marks, that we would have an easier time but the fight against gyutaro and daki was just soooo much more intense while gyokko was just a clown shoes and hantengu wasn't all that threatening at all.

Understandably that's mostly due to not only the level of people we got introduced to in Muichiro and Mitsuri but also the demon slayer mark buff.

If you actually believe the story acting like they're not doing anything magical, just breathing and moving in specific ways that make it look like they're using lightning/fire/water/whatever, there's no reason that Tanjiro wouldn't be able to use a breathing pattern and move his body to do the same thing a Thunder Breath User would. Presumably people just specialize because it's better to master something over a bunch of disjointed moves.
