When he's playing ball with Kana he basically tells her (without TELLING her), the doctor man is dead and he is now truly just Aqua, a smarter than average teenage boy. TLDR: Being re-babied and having to go through puberty again flipped a lot of his switches back to "teen".

Hence why it's 12-20 range, cuz they clearly prefer as close as possible to 12 so they are still young enough once they are popular in 5-10 years, and have thus a longer career (idols would prolly retire by 30's to 40's, given the nature of the business model itself. Especially since idols can't be in a relationship & all that cuz seiso n shieet, so most would prolly stop by 40's cuz of starting a family or w/e, as the biology rly tries to bruteforce you into an overdrive by that point)

Mem is technically still in highschool cause she took a break from school to work for her mom and brothers. So she is still a highschooler which is why they put her on the show. And to the point of her being in love, she could have been in love and still gotten r**ed by the one she loved, another case could be grooming from someone in the industry, many possibilities. The father abandoning the kids and going as far as wanting Ai dead just leaves a lot of room to think that he didn’t love her, and possibly he wasn’t in agreement when it came to having the kids. I would not be surprised if he intended for the murderer to also kill the kids along with Ai. The possibilities are endless I love that aspect of this show lol.

Doubt she would expose her children to a rapist. Also the point of ai not telling her kids she loved them until she died was to show her fear of the confession being a lie. Due to her upbringing she was never loved nor truly loved someone or aware of it. She couldn't comprehend what it means and feels to love someone. Thats why she became an idol to be loved by fans and hopefully love them back. When all of that mixed with her lie/facade filled personality it made her even more unaware of her feelings. But us viewers could always see she loved her children and she confirmed it to herself in her last words

The only thing I can think of is how she never told her kids she loved them until she was dying, as if she was neglecting the in that aspect and only ever accepted them with love in her last breath but idk it might be a stretch. Also given the route of this show, how it's been portraying pretty much every aspect of the film/entertainment industry as of now, and knowing sexual abuse is also a huge issue in this work line I feel we'll eventually encounter this and given that this is like the most serious issue I wouldn't be surprised if the author saved it for the most important character, Ai.

Most idols go through 1-2 years of training before making their debut and unless they are from a big agency or get unlucky it will take a few years for them to get going. So in most cases if Mem joined an average idol group at her current age she’ll always be either 30 or close.

And the whole thing about age for idols is really how it usually works. Personally I haven’t seen female idols over 23 debut before tbh. Youngest I’ve heard about was 13 for both male and female and considering the amount of time they spend as trainees, they were probably brought in when they were 11-12.
