He was never shown respect or compassion from the tenants and when the the lady handed him a box of fish he was happy so basically his desire was fulfilled because she gave him rotten ones which caused him to fully transfer.

You see him trying to quickly climb through all the wires he has crossed all over the place which was slowing him down, then he jumps over the railing. If he had to crawl through that much for 10+ floors, I could see why he considering jumping the quicker option. Unfortunately for him, most the people he is trying to keep safe are useless. And I agree, the way the scene was shot for the arm to get chopped off makes no sense, even with the sword breaking. Despite its many flaws, I enjoyed the show. I do hope they learned quite a few lessons for season 2.

The gangster already caught snatched by a monster and if it would have really been faster to walk down the stairs than to jump down and wait for the injury to heal then the gangster would have made it down already
