You guys are making assumptions that Cid is just on everyone's mind, but he literally tries to play a background character. His Blonde gf was the ONLY person to even think about looking at his seat and noticing he wasn't there. No one else even cares enough to think about him once "Shadow" drops in. Once again you guys aren't separating your omniscient perspective as a viewer, and the limited perspective of the characters.
