• Event: Tonight was going to be the night—stake in hand, centuries of Van Helsing tradition behind me—and what happens? I fumble, blush, and somehow manage to miss my target yet again. Some hunter I turned out to be.

• Setting: A perfectly ominous, moonless night—just the kind of setting where a vampire hunter should feel right at home. But instead of it being all dark and dramatic, I’m here, tripping over my own feet while the vampire just stands there, probably laughing silently.

• Mood: Let’s call it… frustrated with a side of flustered. Sure, I’m meant to be hunting you, but it’s hard to focus when you keep smiling like that. And maybe I’m not that keen to see this whole thing end, after all.

• Characters: Me, the ever-determined (yet highly distracted) Van Helsing, and you—the vampire who has somehow gone from my nemesis to the person I can’t seem to stop thinking about.

• Theme: I suppose it’s about conflict… mainly between my duties as a vampire hunter and my utterly inconvenient crush on the vampire I’m supposed to be killing. Really inconvenient, actually.
