[MC POV]
Everything had been going well.
The Demon King and the Gatekeeper had both disappeared, and Iril had grown accustomed to her position as queen. Peace and stability returned.
This was true not only of the capital but also throughout the entire kingdom.
My reputation within the royal castle naturally rose as well. I had played a large role in ensuring the safety of the realm, taking the lead in slaying several monsters.
I also continued to support Iril and assisted her in handling national affairs.
The crimes I had once committed to bring down Nermedia were eventually seen in a new light.
People began to believe they were the desperate actions of a hero trying to correct a great wrong.
While everyone else was enjoying the newfound peace, there was one person who caught my attention—someone who didn’t seem able to rest easy.
“Kiella, you seem to be having a hard time these days. What’s going on?”
I asked her when we were alone in the conference room.
Lately, the fatigue on her face had become more obvious. Her dark circles grew deeper with each passing day, and I couldn’t bring myself to ignore it.
“…”
“Kiella?”
She looked troubled. Her expression was distant, as if lost in thought. After a long silence, she finally spoke.
“Dayke… please save me.”
“Do you want me to save your life?”
It wasn’t something I expected from her. Kiella was one of the strongest warriors in the kingdom, not someone who would easily plead for her life.
Her next words took me completely by surprise.
“Confess to Iril.”
“…Huh?”
“Right now, Iril is waiting for you to confess. She is convinced that you both like each other, but she’s too nervous to say it first.”
“Iril?”
“Don’t you like her too? You already have three lovers, so no one would even notice if she added one more.”
To be honest, it wasn’t that I disliked Iril. I liked her.
How could I not? She had always treated me with kindness, even in my previous life. Her honest and upright nature, along with her devotion to her country, only deepened my admiration for her.
Nevertheless, the reason I hadn’t been able to move forward with Iril until now was because of my current situation.
I didn’t know how to tell her that I was already in relationships with three elves—Agnes, Rize, and Fine.
I “Iril was waiting for my confession…” I muttered to myself.
If she had been feeling anxious because of me, then that changed everything. I needed to be honest about my feelings and my situation so she wouldn’t have to keep waiting endlessly.
Even if she was shocked, it was better than leaving her in uncertainty.
“Every night, she comes to my room and talks about you for hours,” Kiella said. “But I can’t stop her. If I try to send her away, she gets upset… and then I’m the one in trouble.”
Now that I thought about it, Iril often went to Kiella for advice.
It finally made sense why Kiella had been growing so weary lately.
“Alright, I’ll talk to her. Thanks for letting me know.”
“…Please,” Kiella said softly. “Just don’t tell her I asked you to.”
“Don’t worry,” I assured her. “You’ll finally get some proper sleep from now on.”
Though I said that, I didn’t rush to act that night.
I needed time—both to prepare myself and to speak with the others first.
“Queen Iril? I think it took too long for this to happen,” Agnes said with a knowing smile.
“I feel the same,” Rize added. “The Queen and Dayke have always been close. More than anything, I want to respect your wishes.”
“The Queen is very welcome!” Fine exclaimed happily. “She likes strawberry honey preserves just like me! I want to be friends with her!”
The next afternoon, I spoke with my lovers one by one. To my relief, their responses were all positive.
Their understanding gave me the courage I needed. The time I’d spent worrying suddenly felt foolish and unnecessary.
I had finally made up my mind.
“Dayke, can you come to my room later?”
As the moonlight streamed through the castle hallway windows, I followed Iril’s suggestion and made my way to her room.
“Welcome, Dayke.”
Iril opened the door with a gentle smile and greeted me.
Since it was her personal space, she was dressed in loose, comfortable pajamas instead of her usual queen’s gown.
In the past, I would have had to sneak in through the window, but now, I could walk in through the door with pride.
“Yeah. What did you call me for?”
When I asked, thinking it polite to hear her reason before bringing up my own matters, she smiled softly and replied, “Well, I just wanted to be with you tonight.”
It was rare for Iril to be the one to ask me to stay with her.
She used to do it often before, but somewhere along the line, she had grown shy about it. Seeing the faint nervousness in her expression, I could tell she was doing something she wasn’t used to anymore.
“Hey, Dayke…?”
“What?”
“I’m just curious… Including your past life, it’s been quite a while since we’ve known each other, right? By human standards, I mean.”
“Yes?”
She also nodded shyly.
She was rocking her body slightly as if embarrassed and continued speaking.
“That’s right. But why ask so suddenly?”
“Oh, it’s nothing. I just wanted to know.”
Her answer sounded suspiciously casual. But remembering what Kiella had told me about Iril’s feelings, I could somewhat guess her true intention.
‘So, bringing up the word “lover,” huh? Are you trying to make me confess? I’m not sure yet, so I’ll wait and see.’
As I thought that, Iril’s cheeks turned red.
“Of course. I’ve been looking forward to it since I got here.”
“Ah, but before that… there’s something I want to show you.”
She stepped back slightly.
Her face was flushing even deeper.
“Iril, this is…??”
“Huh, what do you think? I prepared it because I thought you’d like it.”
Her timid tone clashed with the daring outfit.
“That’s a good thing. I was really nervous… I kept thinking, What if you found it strange?”
“No, it’s not strange at all.”
“Is that so?”
But as if to prove that this was only the beginning, Iril stepped closer.
She pulled me down by the neck and pressed her lips against mine.
Thanks to Iril and me working efficiently, we managed to prepare in time, and the meeting began without any delays.
Enjoy!!
