Here is the sneek peek of the work.

“Haa… I miss him…”

Sojin was lying on her bed at home during the weekend, hugging her pillow as she tried to soothe her longing for her him.

She opened her phone again and stared at a secretly taken photo of Joohyun, her lips curling slightly as though the picture alone could ease her loneliness.

“I never thought I’d actually want to go to work…” she murmured.

She was shy and deeply introverted. She always found it difficult to start conversations and make eye contact with others.

The mere act of greeting someone often felt exhausting to her. She had already spent almost a year with her current team, and although they were easier to approach compared to others she had worked with, she still could not bring herself to call anyone a close friend.

Jisoo, the member of the team and the same age as Joohyun, was quiet and distant, so it was hard for Sojin to open up to her.

They rarely exchanged more than a few words. The rest of the team members were older, which made interactions stiff and awkward, and most of their conversations stayed strictly work-related.

The only person she could truly consider a friend was her team leader, Miyoung. As a caring boss who always looked out for her, Miyoung had helped her adjust to the company little by little. Without her guidance, Sojin might have already given up. Yet even with that support, the workplace never became a place she truly wanted to go.

Sojin was a introvert who felt happiest spending her days alone in her room, playing games or browsing quietly online. She had once dreamed of finding a job that allowed her to work from home, where she could earn a living without being into uncomfortable social situations.

Somehow, though, her path had led her to one of the largest corporations in the country—Choi Han Group.

‘Still, it’s thanks to my parents that I met Him again.’

She had never planned to apply to Choi Han Group. It was her adoptive parents, who had taken her in when she was, who had pushed her to try. She filled out the application without much thought, half-expecting nothing to come from it.

When she received the acceptance letter, she was shocked. Happiness mixed with fear took hold of her, since it didn’t seem like the kind of place where someone like her could survive.

At one point, she even considered canceling her acceptance. But when she saw her genuine happiness and tears of pride, she could not bring herself to throw it away.

She had gone to work with a heavy heart, and in those early days, she had even resented them for pushing her into such a difficult environment. Yet over time, her feelings shifted. The hardship forced her to grow stronger, and she now felt more grateful to them than anyone else in her life.

She never imagined that fate would lead her to meet Joohyun again after all those years of losing contact. But once he appeared at the company, her world changed. Suddenly, she was more eager than anyone else to go to work.

Socializing was still difficult. It drained her, and she often stumbled over her words. But just being able to spend time around Joohyun made the effort feel worthwhile.

Even though she still struggled to wake up in the mornings, she had been making small changes, like leaving home earlier so she could arrive at work before him. It wasn’t much—only five minutes earlier than usual—but for her, it was a meaningful effort.

Thanks to Joohyun, her days at the company had become far more enjoyable. She no longer counted the hours until the weekend simply so she could be alone.

Instead, she found herself wishing the days away so that Monday would come faster. She wanted to go to work, not for the company itself, but just to see him.

“Sh-should I contact him?… No, but it’s his weekend, so he might think I’m bothering him… But Him also may enjoy spending time with me… Or maybe he might not…”

Her heart kept wavering.

Lately, she had been spending her weekends in a cycle of hesitation, wondering hundreds of times whether to reach out to him, only to let the hours slip by until it was too late.

Even though they had grown up together in the same orphanage, too much time had passed.

The closeness of their childhood felt distant now, leaving her uncertain. Were they still the same to each other as they had been back then? Or was she the only one clinging to those memories?

Of course, Joohyun was still treating her kindly and comfortably, but since she was his senior at work, there were times when he used a more formal tone in the office. Those moments always made her feel a little sad.

She understood that work and personal life should be kept separate, yet every time she felt there was a line drawn between them, her heart grew heavy.

“It’s nice when we’re together…”

She loved the rare times when they had lunch together and he treated her warmly, as if nothing had changed. But those moments were too few, and they never lasted long enough.

They weren’t dating, and in truth, they were only people who had known each other in childhood. It was strange to spend too much time together now, since in many ways, they were practically strangers.

“Ugh…”

Sojin clutched her phone tightly, agonizing over whether to call him or send a simple text.

Her hesitation wasn’t only because of her shyness. There was also another, far bigger reason holding her back.

Joohyun had a girlfriend.

‘If I contact him and his girlfriend sees it… what if they fight because of me? Ugh…’

The thought weighed heavily on her. She was so afraid of causing problems between them that she could do nothing but sit and worry.

Her lack of confidence only made it worse.

‘Ugh… If only I had gone to a co-ed … No, even if I had, I probably still wouldn’t have been able to talk to anyone…’

‘Everyone at university only talked about how bad men are, which made it worse…’

She ended up barely speaking to anyone during her university years. Instead, she devoted herself to her studies, rushing to graduate as quickly as possible, which she managed to do half a year early.

After that, the only man she ever spoke to before joining the company. So when she was alone with Joohyun now, she never knew how to carry the conversation.

There were long silences when they were together, but strangely, those silences never felt uncomfortable. When she was with Joohyun, even quiet moments became peaceful.

She clearly understood what her feelings for him were.

But since he had a girlfriend, she could not express them. She could not even stay by his side as much as she wanted, and that frustration ate away at her.

She would have been happy just to text him or call him once in a while, but she had no idea how to reach out to a man.

On top of that, she worried constantly about his girlfriend’s reaction.

Enjoy!!
