patrons, here's your second bonus episode for the month of October. the final episode in our book club series on The Name of the Rose will be released in early November.
folks, since we're approaching the end of our book club series on Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose, we felt it high time to bring former guest and the internet's foremost TNOTR stan, Josh Sawyer, back to chat about the book. as you might recall, Josh is a video game designer for Obsidian Entertainment and has directed a number of games, including Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity I & II, and, most pertinent to us, Pentiment, an Early Modern murder-mystery game massively influenced by The Name of the Rose. we talk with Josh about everything from our introductions to the book, to why we love it, how it sold so many damn copies, what the title means, and more. of course, Josh also fills us in on how the book inspired Pentiment, what he wanted to include, and what he felt they could do a bit better (like having actual female characters on screen).
cover image is a meme Josh made and posts quite often online.
