Kristina: A PC's backstory

This is a little piece I wrote several months ago for a character I am now playing in a Pathfinder 2E game. A conversation elsewhere reminded me of it, and I figured I would share it here as a little bonus. Hopefully it will provide a bit of entertainment. :)

---------------------------

Kristina's world had become pain and darkness, with occasional flickers of light from a growing fire.

She didn't know why she had bothered to try protecting that awful woman who called herse...

352: Satsuki's Sins

Once Satsuki was certain that none of the cores had their attention turned her way, Satsuki leaned against a wall and slumped, briefly letting all the air out of her lungs as she took a moment to recover. That man had no idea what he'd done, but how could he? There were some secrets that Satsuki kept buried so deep that she barely knew that she had them.

Handing her a soul stone like that. Well, if she had any doubts about his trust in her when it came to important things, she now had p...

351: Multi Mind Mental Mineralization

When she and Kazue laid their hands on Svetlana's core, Moriko slid into a meditative state to help facilitate the flow of information between her earring and her ring of core matrix, not unlike when she'd helped channel Mordecai through Kazue's core when they'd first met, but with a lot more involvement. She found the subtle swirls of light in the ice blue of Svetlana's core to be an excellent meditative focus for this.

Much of the information was unintelligible — data presented as e...

350: To Hunt And To Run

Mordecai had to admit that he was feeling just a bit smug about his plan working as well as it had. Svetlana had practically invited his command glyphs to demand action from her, and had supported the command to 'grow' as best as she was able. It was probably best that she hadn't managed to shatter her bonds, as then she'd be having to deal with everything herself, but it would still be a better scenario than any in which Dimitri won.

As for snatching that finger despite Dimitri's conti...

349: The Fox Guide

Kazue hated that she had to effectively ignore Mordecai when she ran past, but they needed to force Dimitri away before he could try to finish Mordecai off.

Originally, she had intended to break off and go back to him once the others had Dimitri cornered or on the run, but then the bastard had teleported. It had been fast and not a proper spell, so all Kazue had been able to do was track him and immediately direct an attack at him, but the nearly instant teleport had her worried he'd be...

348: Life of the Party

Amrydor dashed out from the ice at the same time as everyone else, but a bare moment's consideration kept him from trying to pursue the wizard. He simply was not fast enough to keep up, and there was something else he could do while those with healing magic were occupied with the person that Amrydor assumed was their target, Dimitri.

He stopped by Mordecai's form as he dismissed his polearm and started mentally preparing himself for a somewhat gruesome task. A handaxe should do for most...

347: Breaking the Ice

Watching Mordecai launch himself into the zone of churning ice blocks all alone was not easy for Moriko, but she understood his strength well enough to understand why this was probably everyone's best option. Ironically, for all that Mordecai was clearly the most powerful of them, the real problem was that he wasn't powerful enough.

He was unleashing massive amounts of heat and energy as he rampaged, both drawing attention to himself and disrupting the functionality of the zone, but he ...

346: A Battle of Ice and Fire

Mordecai pondered his options as he said, "Moriko, please take some time to meditate and pray; I want you to ask for spell prayers for fiery auras or transformations." One of the advantages of being a priest; you can always ask for spells for the occasion. "I know; that will take several minutes, but we are better off spending time efficiently than gambling that we already have everything we need."

Technically, Mordecai could pray for similar spells, but he already had access to equival...

345: Lingering Light

As the dragon prepared to attack, Kazue created a swirling wall of light mere moments before Mordecai cast a spell that created a wall of metal a few feet closer to the party than Kazue's spell. She was expecting a more powerful version of the sand blast attack that the drakes had been using, and the probability-diffracting properties of her spell should break that up pretty well.

Instead, condensed light slammed against her wall of prismatic light.

The chaos of her magic was incl...

Civ 6 Azeria Mod

Hey all, I have started spinning up an idea for an Azeria Civilization mod for Civ6.

If anyone wants to help out, let me know in Discord. I've created a private channel for discussing the topic. I'll try to do most of the base work, but if we want it extra fancy with unique models for Unique Units, or there's anything requiring real coding, that is beyond my skills.

I can comfortably do XLM by hand if needed, and modify existing LUA code within limits, but not more than that, an...

344: Sirocco

Moriko shook her head at Mordecai's casual display of power as he continually fed shaped mana into the ice guns to create living ice. While she couldn't see the precise weave of magic the way that Mordecai could, she could still tell that he wasn't casting spells into the ports on the gun the way that she'd have to. Equally impressive was the raw amount of mana he was dumping into them with little impact on his reserves.

Of course, his capacity had been increasing the entire time they'v...

To Dance With an Elf

Note: This was meant to simply be a short example in response to a forum thread, and it became over a thousand words. So, I thought I would post it here, rather than waste about half a chapter of entertainment.

-------------------

Sir Elias of Dawnberg focused on maintaining his calm as he bowed to Lady Ilyrana of the Silverwoods, who smiled as she curtsied back, and he tried to pretend that she was the same as any lady of the court that he had danced with before. But elves were r...

Lena Backstory

So, the character Lena (the succubus being trained by Ozuran to be something more) came from a PF2E campaign, where her original name was Balenni. This is the story I wrote for my players at the time (Zelda and Tsukiko are characters from that game), which was well before I started writing "No Need For A Core?". It is not automatically canonical to my serial in details, but the general story is still what happened.
