Ep 177 - Conquest & Anarchy 3: The Norman Yoke

patrons, here's a quick update: we were going to record two episodes this week, a regular and a bonus, but Eleanor got a stomach bug and we didn't have time to record two, so the second bonus episode of July will drop next week, possibly toward the end of the week, which is technically in August. just wanted to give y'all an update on that.

here's your ad-free version of this week's regular episode, we answer questions from Paul Carraba and White Trash Historian

folks, we're back with part three of our series on the Norman Conquest and English Anarchy where we finish up the rest of 1066 and see William the Conqueror crowned. then we turn to William's rule of England, which was mostly absenteeism except when he was responding to the numerous but sporadic and disconnected rebellions with extreme force. we'll see all the rebellions fail, even the Revolt of the Earls, and watch as the Norman yoke fully descends on England once and for all. finally, William dies and, perhaps unsurprisingly, there's a contested succession between his two sons, Rufus and Robert.

I once read that after he had pillaged southern England, saint Olaf had to sail to Spain to sell all the people he had captured because the christians were too woke. Were the English unwilling to buy other English, was the Caliph willing to pay more, or did the pious Olaf simply want a break from the rain and a vacation on Costa del Sol?

You guys should do the North Eastern Sports Talk Radio discussing esoteric topics like they did on OG Chapo.
