hello, patrons, here's your second bonus episode for July 2023. as you know by now, we had planned to begin a series on season 1 of Star Wars: Andor. however, with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes ongoing and Andor being a struck production, we received word that the unions have asked podcasters not to promote struck work and since filming and production of Andor season 2 has been struck, we will not be covering the show until the strike is over. we know you'll understand but we just don't do scab work or cross picket lines here.
so we had to throw this together sort of last minute but we know you'll love it. first, Eleanor discusses the current breakup of large social media sites into smaller entities in comparison to the decline and fall of the Western Roman Empire. then, Luke talks for a little while about the Dark Souls series of games, which he loves dearly even though they aren't really current since the last one dropped in 2016. so enjoy and we'll be back with more Inferno next month!

here's a link to the opening cinematic to the original Dark Souls that is mentioned a few times (this is from the remaster that was released in 2018): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0l73vAlEBQ
attached are some images of the Ringed City from Dark Souls 3. the first shows how the area was reduced to ash and sand at the end of time, the second is a wide view of Khmer-inspired architecture used for the location, and then finally a view of the dreg heap where you can see everything collapsing in on itself.
