You might be thinking of Makersupport who became targeted for openly backing internet conservatives. Usually how these sites go down is by losing credit card/paypal processing after overly sensitive people complain about them hosting nazis, pedophiles, criminals, and whatever else. I'm going off a friend's recommendation that Substar means well (<a href="https://www.subscribestar.com/memorandum/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.subscribestar.com/memorandum/</a>) and are taking a neutral, low profile approach. If still they go under, I won't lose much.

The last time someone I followed tried to switch to a Patreon alternative with a more relaxed NSFW policy they updated it shortly after such that the difference was basically irrelevant. I forget the name, but I'm guessing that service either figured they were successful enough at that point they could just do away with the riffraff or actually got in trouble for hosting something they shouldn't have. Either way I haven't heard from them since. Anyway, my point is that unless SubStar has a substantial track record of allowing NSFW content (and to be fair they very well might as I've done no research on the matter) don't count on them staying that way forever.
