I know this super childish, but the only thing I could think about the whole time was that there's the perfect reaction gif for what happened at Smithfield: https://tenor.com/I3dL.gif

Just my two cents on that, as a former student of medieval literature: The Renaissance carries a large part of the blame for the Middle Ages' bad image. The term itself implies "Yeah, that bit before us was dead/lame, so we're picking up where the Ancients dropped the ball." Also, every Renaissance scholar/student I have met has been obnoxious and overly in love with themselves, while medievalists are usually down to earth and largely pragmatic ( Citation needed, bias check recommended )

Based on some off-hand comments in the episodes, it seems that you have rather negative opinions about the Renaissance, but I haven't worked out why. If it's not too much trouble, could you share?
