I believe it's very important to differentiate the good from the bad here because romance is very much like friendship but on a much more intense scale. So the emotional investment as well as the implications for either emotional support or emotional damage are much greater.
Granted that my first-hand romantic experience is limited. I do, however, have a lot of second-hand experience. By observing the people I've known throughout my life, I've learned to accurately predict how their relationships will go as long as I know both people. So I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about. But of course, first-hand experience is the most important and I am still very much learning.
"Hard To Say Anything" itself was a great episode. There was a lot of subtle character shown through the facial expressions of everyone's reactions. Although the real-life aspects were toned down quite a bit, it was still an accurate indication for what can happen when you try to apply fairy tale logic or pickup artistry to real life.
