The familiar chime of a DM notification rang out on Will’s computer. He smiled as he opened the message, realizing it’s from his friend Antonella.

<Ey there! Sorry for the delay in responding. I’ve been super busy with work.>

Will pondered for a bit and then responded. <Hi there! No worries of course. I’ve been a little bit predisposed myself lately. How is your latest story coming along?  I really enjoyed the last one “Sophie’s Frenzy”. How did you dream up such…intensity?>

<He he, glad you liked it. The next story is coming along nicely. But umm…you know that when I write about my girls, I’m usually just writing about our personal encounters. It’s not like I’m making it up.>

<Wow. So that actually happened!? They must have slept for three days after that.>

<Yes, they told me it was quite intense! So…what are you up to today? Have you made more progress in your Zelda game?> Antonella responded, feeling a tinge of embarrassment discussing the extreme story and attempted to change the subject.

<Yes, I’m really hooked on it! I love how the game is so artful and has a lot of dramatic cutscenes that have a real anime aesthetic to them.>

<Oh yes, I have seen it before. Does it remind you of any particular anime?> Antonella replied quickly, as her interest in anime caused her to get more curious about the game.

<Well, honestly I’m not sure. I have to admit that I haven’t been exposed to too much anime in my life. I’m ashamed to say it, but I’ve never even seen a Makoto Shinkai movie before.>

<What?!? Those movies are so fantastic. I think you’ll really like them. I think maybe I should come over with some so we can watch them together.> Antonella responded quickly, absently using three of her hands to type, as she sometimes did when excited.

<That would be awesome! I’m totally down for some cultural experiences sometime.>

<Great, I’ll be right over! I can’t believe you’ve never seen their movies. I’ll come over and log into my Crunchyroll account so we can stream the “Your Name” and “Weathering with You” at your place.>

<Oh wait! I’m actually a bit couch-ridden today due to my back…> Will attempted to reach Anto in time, but it was too late. She had already logged off, and was on a mission to expose one of her friends to some of her favorite movies. These are special movies to Antonella – they helped shape her interest in Japanese culture, video games and writing imaginative stories with mutants.

About fifteen minutes later, Will heard a knock at the door.

“Come in”, Will grimaced, while not getting up from the couch.

Antonella opened the door and saw Will with a pained look on his face.

“Oh no, what’s wrong?” Asked Antonella with a tone of concern in her voice.

“Oh, honestly it is nothing serious. I tweaked my back this morning and I’m in pain. I tried to tell you but you were in such a rush to come over and expose me to anime…ha ha.”

“I’m so sorry to hear you’re in pain. Is there anything I can do?”

“It’s so nice to see your happy faces, you already brightened up my day. It’s best for me just to relax on the couch today. I’ll be fine in a day or so.”

“I know what it’s like to experience some back pain – after all, I had to get used to carrying a lot more weight up top with my extras after I mutated.” Antonella extended her six hands and wiggled her fingers a bit playfully. “Would you like a massage? I can rub in some balm and soothe your back muscles.”

Will’s face turned serious. “A massage? I mean…that would be great…but…”

“But what?” said Antonella. “Are you uncomfortable with the idea of a six-armed woman massaging you?” Antonella usually didn’t extend herself like that, and Will’s response, which wasn’t welcoming, did not reassure her.

“No, of course not. I am absolutely comfortable with you giving me a massage. In fact, I think I might get a little too comfortable. It’s just that…I don’t ever want to appear lewd around you.”

Antonella breathed a sigh of relief after Will reassured her that he is not only comfortable with her, but also made his best effort to be a gentleman around her. “It’s totally okay if you’re relaxed and content while I help you with your back pain. You’ve never been disrespectful around me and I appreciate that.”

“In that case, I’m on board! I have some balm here on the coffee table.”

Antonella guided Will to lie face-down while she used her upper pair of hands to hold the balm and apply it to her lower four hands. She carefully lifted up his shirt and started to use all six of her hands to carefully massage his lower back muscles, while she simultaneously rubbed his shoulders and neck.

“Oh wow.” Will started to drift into a state of pure bliss as Antonella expertly kneaded his muscles and worked out the tightness and kinks causing his back pain. He didn’t say much else, but felt a sense of warmth run through his body as he enjoyed Antonella’s multi-handed touch.

Will was grateful that he was lying face-down so Antonella couldn’t see his face turn a deep shade of crimson.  He’s also very grateful that she wouldn’t notice his excitement at the fact that this is kind of a dream come true for him – getting a massage from a kind and caring six-handed person.  Also, his painkiller is finally kicking in, which caused him to speak a bit more loosely than his usual tight-knit demeanor.

“You know, you’re kind of like a goddess in real life. You’ve got six arms and you rushed over during a time when I really needed a friend.”

“Pfft, technically I rushed here to watch the movies, but I appreciate your compliment even though I’m not a goddess, just a mutant with lots of arms to use” Antonella responded with a giggle.  “Plus, I owe you one for accompanying me to the art gallery premiere.”

“That was so much fun for me and of course you don’t own me anything. But still, thank you so much for being here for me today.”

Antonella finished the massage and Will sat up, astonished that his back muscles are completely relaxed without a hint of spasming.

“That was incredible. You’re such a great healer. You’re just like Mipha from Breath of the Wild.”

Antonella giggled. “Again with Mipha? Is that why you talked me into cosplaying as her for the portrait, because you see me as a healing fish girl?”

“Ha ha, the Zora are actually much more like humanoid dolphins, but that’s not why I asked you to cosplay. I was drawn to the character in the game because she is incredibly kind, sweet, gentle and shy, and she reminds me of you for those exact reasons”

“T-that’s sweet of you”, Antonella said while holding a mane of her hair and thinking for a second. “This helps me appreciate the portrait much better. I had no idea you were seeing me like that.”

Will looked down shyly and didn’t say anything. Antonella noticed his expression with her tail head as she logged into her Crunchyroll account on his streaming device. Without missing a beat, she reduced the awkwardness by changing the subject again. “So, are you ready to watch the movie with me while you rest your back?”

Will smiled warmly. “Thanks so much for coming over today. Your friendship brightened my day and warmed my soul. I’d love to hang out and watch the movie.”
