Naruto didn't even beat Pain, technically. He fought a very, very weakened Pain and still had his hands pinned to the ground. To have any shot, he had to give his body up to the Nine-tails, and even the Nine-tails only managed to break out of the miniature moon Pain put Naruto in when he was just about to fully overtake Naruto from within. If Minato's chakra hadn't been around to save Naruto and give him another shot at life as well as the time to power up sage mode again, Naruto would've died. Naruto at that point could not win against even a weakened Pain. His victory that day came with the help of fatherly love and the power of his heart. But as a ninja, he didn't stand a chance.

It's NOT a spoiler that none of the civilians in the village knew Naruto's relation with Minato. It gets mentioned and implied throughout Naruto (not Naruto Shippuden). It's little bits and pieces in many episodes. The 3rd Hokage especially mentions keeping it a secret/hidden from people. The details surrounding why they wanted to keep it a secret or the reasonings MIGHT be some LIGHT spoilers (not crucial to the plot). But it's very intuitive why a hokage would want to keep his family a secret, if you just do a bit of critical thinking, which Ron and Michelle are both great at.

You did not watch the pain fight lol. 1- he was fighting for hours before that with 7 bodies. 2 he had just used almighty push and could use that pain for the whole first part of the fight. 3- once he could use that pain he started fucking naruto up and could've killed him at any point, his objective was to capture the jinchurikee. Then after Naruto transformed he fought a 8 tail ninetails out of conrtol. he only lost because Naruto transformed back. If he had stayed transformed he would've been sealed in the ball of dirt.

Naruto had the nine tails sealed in him the day he was born by the 4th hokage, which was also the day that was stated the 4th sacrificed himself to stop the nine-tails from destroying the village! But it was not known even in the manga until later that the 4th hokage was actually narutos dad lol

It's actually one of my favourite episodes in the entire show because It's so funny.
