Ging obviously doesn't want anything to do with Gon I mean could you really face someone you've been neglecting and ignoring their existence for the past 12 to 13 years? So it's easy to see why he'd just run away other than facing it besides its pretty known that he hates any type of responsibility and only wants to have fun, this just so happens to apply to even raising his own son. Its completely another story from what you know about hxh in the anime. Many new characters and its focus on other hunter as kurapika and the others. Gon is chilling at home because he has to learn how to use nen all over again. Ps: its spoiler but i doubt this part of the anime will ever take place because of the author health issue.

Because we don’t really know his mom and Ging doesnt seem to be interested in women base off what we have seen so far. It would explain how he treats gon.

He's a deadbeat inexcusably imo. And tbh they've never alluded to his character being otherwise as far as fatherhood goes. The first time Gon heard his voice on that recording, he says something like "do you want to see me? Well I don't want to see you". There is a list of shitty anime fathers

On the first EP, Gon says he’s interested in what a hunter like ging is since it’s great enough to abandon his son. Ging doesn’t understand how to be a dad. He’s ashamed. He alluded to it on the tape recording. That’s the reason he also made it so accompany would make Gon go to kite. Because he’d be even more ashamed that Gon brought Killua with him to meet Ging. But if he used magnetic force then it would’ve sent him only , directly to Ging. Ging is flat out just a bad father. Obviously he cares for his son, the journey Gon has went through was because of Ging. But it’s also unrealistic to expect Gon to finally meet Ging and have Ging be a good father. That’s why he’s very awkward with Gon face to face.

There will never be a good reason reason also. Ging is just a great Hunter who's a horrible father.

The only good thing he's done for Gon was leaving him with Mito who made sure he had a somewhat normal childhood. Silva is literally a way better father to Killua that Ging which says a lot.

Ging told gon so often "i dont want to see you. im busy doing me and i dont regret it. if you want to see me, find me i guess but know i'll run away". imo if Gon decided to live a normal civilian life and not chase ging, Ging would never try to see Gon

So I can kinda expect him to ditch again right after meeting cuz bro selfishly left him to do his own thing for so many years, it's so hard to think that he would just suddenly act as a good father figure now and accompany him to see kite together? That just doesn't even sound like him... I feel like that lesson about Kite was the least he could do for Gon cuz if he really was such an asshole of a person, he wouldn't have cared if he heard Gon say "i should've died instead". He's definitely not treating Gon as his kid, but I can tell that he treats him more like as a student of his.

I'm glad he at least got yelled at by the crowd of hunters. 😂 Killua's & Alluka's/Nanika's story just tugs at my heartstrings every time. Truly a wonderful character arc. The cute little scribbly tear-filled eyes make the fact that Nanika will ask for body parts or twist you to death seem like a distant memory lmao.
