Gold Roger can't be Luffys dad. Roger died 22 years ago. Luffy is 17. And the D. In a name doesn't mean two people are related. You'll hear about and meet several people with D. In their name who have no possible relation to Luffy or Ace. So if you go at it with the incorrect preconceived notion that theyre all related it will get confusing. Ace and Luffy is just a coincidence. Aces last name Portgas D. Is different from Luffys Monkey D. for reasons you'll find out about way in the future.

True. Roger died when he was 53 years old so by the current timeline, he would be 75 years old. They are really close with each other with their ages so basically, he could have been at the age of Ace and Luffy's grandfather, which is kinda crazy to me.

It's like in the real world. Legally, your sibling doesn't need to have the same last name as you, it could be many reasons. Maybe because he/she is only your half-sibling or maybe it's just a preference by the parents. So by any means, Luffy doesn't need to have the same last name as Ace and vice versa.

It's called intangibility. Defensively, the intangibility of Smoker's or Ace's Devil Fruit when transformed makes them extremely difficult, if not impossible, to harm, let alone defeat. It's what makes their Devil Fruits strong and dangerous due to this ability. You can say that for anybody who uses mostly physical attacks to take down an opponent (Luffy, Zoro or even Sanji) is a living nightmare during a fight against them since they can't hit them. Whether there is a way to bypass that, we shall see.

As Luffy said already, Ace left home 3 years before Luffy so he’s been in the Grand Line all that time, highly likely fighting in numerous fights and training with & against other strong people. Its actually a Manji symbol, the symbol that the swastika is a mirror of. Similar to Ichigo's blade's hilt in Bleach. They are very similar but carry much different meanings now. The original word was "svastika" which is Sanskrit and means "well being" or "good fortune". Manji is the Japanese word for this Sanskrit meaning. Since the swastika is a mirror of the Manji symbol it can be taken to have the opposite meaning and is a bastardization of what the symbol was intended to mean.

Chopper is 15, Vivi is 16, Usopp & Luffy are 17, Nami is 18, Zoro & Sanji are 19. Every characters age is always confirmed by Oda in something called an SBS which is apart of the Manga. About the names Portgas D. Ace Monkey D. Luffy Nefertari Vivi Nefertari Cobra Family Name first, and Personal Name last. Note, this is not something unique of One Piece world, this is a Japanese nomenclature. You're watching other anime, like Naruto. In there you have: Uzumaki Naruto Uchia Sasuke Haruno Sakura Uzumaki is not Naruto first name, nor his Sasuke Uchia, neither Haruno Sakura's. No, those are their family names. Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura are their first/personal names. And so the names people call them. In One Piece is the same thing, Monkey D. Luffy Roronoa Zoro Tony Tony Chopper (funny enough, we don't have the families names of the other members) But Luffy, Zoro and Chopper are their first/personal names. So, yes, Ace and Luffy have different family names, why is that? 🤔

It was explained in previous episodes that there are 3 types of devil fruits. Zoan type: like chopper and others who can change a human into an animal, Paramecia: like luffy, it can change the properties of the body (into rubber for example), and Logia type: which you can go through, like (smoke, or fire) therefore, fire is highly offensive and defensive :). There is more about these categories explained in the future but thats the basic rundown they have explained so far.

I like how they call him Gold D. "Rogers" instead of "Roger" XD Regarding last names, in Japan the order is Last name then First name "Uzumaki Naruto" for example. So for Luffy, his first name is Luffy and last name is Monkey but its said "Monkey D. Luffy"

True. Roger died when he was 53 years old so by the current timeline, he would be 75 years old. They are really close with each other with their ages so basically, he could have been at the age of Ace and Luffy's grandfather, which is kinda crazy to me.

One Piece is using the japanese system for the names. So the last name come first. Luffy's last name is monkey and ace's is portgas. the "D" is just a middle name Ace is the goat. One of my favourite characters in One Piece
