at 11:20, L says "Do you suppose [the bells are part of] a church? A wedding? Or perhaps..." and then he was about to say "a funeral" but then Light interrupts his sentence. This shows that L knew he was about to die by Light's hand. That's why L said "we'll soon be parting ways". Also, when L cleans Light's feet, this is a Bible reference because Jesus cleaned Judas's feet right before Judas betrayed Jesus.

Man oh man can't believe the episode finally arrived. I remember when I first watched it my jaw DROPPED!! L was extreme in his tactics but he was a genius!! I was beyond furious that the writers would do this. It's one of the main reasons I have a love hate relationship with this anime. Still a great anime nonetheless. Keep enjoying guys! We are here for moral support lol

The ending that the artist originally thought of was made into a live-action film. In fact, the movie received a lot of criticism, but I was more satisfied with the ending.

Yo if you really think about it, this man L almost defeated the supernatural, the notebook and shinigamis. Beast of a character Also, Rem cares about Misa, so she wouldn’t have helped L with defeating Light, because it would’ve been Misa’s death as well. If I were Rem, I would’ve said fuck it and killed both L and Light even though Misa would not have been happy since Light is now dead, but I would see it as a “I’m doing what’s best for you, don’t care if you hate me for it” type thing since Light doesn’t care for Misa at all lol.

Apparently, the manga was supposed to end at this very moment with L actually catching Light as Kira, but the mangaka was pressured into extending the story and had to change it to Rem killing L. I personally don't really like the rest of the story going forward but there are a few cool moments. I personally think that if the story ended here with L catching Kira, it would have been perfect.

I believe that the scene with Raito and L on the stairs where L wipes Raito's feet is a biblical reference, like comparing Raito with Jesus and L with Mary Magdalene, in this case L "sinned greatly" with all the resources he used and violating the others' privacy, while Raito is said to be a "god" and someone "free of criticism". But L is compared to Mary Magdalene, because despite being a sinner he has good intentions and is as if he were a human trapped in the world and its conditions [which makes us sinners, just like the environment and the reality around us]. The other interpretation is merely analytical, it is as if L was the human who should wash the feet of a god and Raito was on a high plane, above humans, but all of this is biblical similarity and subliminality.

Those Shinigami's weren't really with him. Only Rem caved in. Light had a big handicap. Not knowing L's name, having Misa making stupid mistakes. Only power Light had was the Notebook. L been in the game for yearssss, having a reputation and backing. All those feats would not be possible if he didn't have all that money. They were on even ground until Light found a weak spot.

Lmao the feet scene has a Catholic/Christian symbolism to it, it’s not just a weird scene thrown in there 😂 as a matter of fact, there are SO MANY Christian symbolisms throughout the show, like the apples, the depictions of Light, etc, etc. Here, it’s meant to be a symbolism of betrayal, and most importantly, knowing you’re about to be betrayed. L says he has been hearing "bells" all day, unsure of wether it was a wedding, or… a funeral. He had a feeling he was going to die soon, which is why we get flashbacks, and the entire scene with Watari at the beginning.

Light saw L as his friend, equal and biggest rival . That is why he rewarded L with the smile to comford him by saying he was right all this time. And the wierd scene where it look like them bonded so hard that it even creeped out Ron , you got to think Light and L have been in chains together for months working side by side 24/7. You could even call it a form of stockholm syndrome in my opinion :p I really like how you guys think about what is next to come :D Also what did you think about misa's song?

DUUUUUDE WHATS GOIN ON!! as someone watchin with yall... i never expected smth like this to happen so "early." in a popular show i've watched, usually when they show backstory of the person, they die really soon so i was skeptical but in a more joking way. i thought Rem could be setting Light up because they realized he was putting misa in danger to make Rem go for L. funny thing ron thought Rem might've been setting them up to later in the ep. then, L talkin bout hearing bells made me think he's gonna die soon, but then the way he talks in the massage scene i thought they were gonna catch Light very soon instead. i kept going back & forth on what was happening this was the most strange episode of the series by far (especially with Misa in the beginning) !! much as I like Light, I feel bad for L if this is fr 😦

also one minor gripe I have about subtitles, I wish they wouldn't cut off the sentence midway. As soon as L started his last sentence, the subs give away that something's about to happen to him. It'd be cool if they could like fill in the rest of the sentence in a way that makes sense, so you get the full surprise
